Full Job Description
Summary

This position is located in the Small Business Administration, Office of Capital Access in Citrus Heights, CA. The incumbent serves as the full assistant to the Deputy Center Director and shares in and assists the Deputy Center Director in all phases of the Center's operating programs. The incumbent reports directly to the Deputy Center Director of the Sacramento Loan Processing Center (SLPC).

As a/an Supervisory Loan Specialist at theGS- 1165-14, some of your typical work assignments may include:

  • Serves as a supervisor, responsible for the direction of the loan processing/pre-closing servicing work on all loans received by the Center.
  • Participates in and/or resolves difficult case problems in the processing/preclosing servicing of loans, which includes difficult determinations involving potential loan restructuring or denials.
  • Reviews staffing requirements for the Center, justifying additional staffing as required; Prepares position descriptions, performance standards, and evaluates performance of Loan Operation Center employees.
  • Maintains close and effective working relationship with Headquarters, Regional and District officials concerning loan processing and preclosing servicing actions.
  • Led a project, work group or team which may have included components such as financial, lending, procurement, business development, marketing, outreach, and administrative support functions.

Qualifications

GS-14: One year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service, obtained in either the private or public sector:

  1. Managing day-to-day operations of a team in processing and servicing commercial loans or comparable financial services; AND
  2. Interpreting and applying rules, policies, and regulations pertaining to commercial loans and small businesses; AND
  3. Analyzing obligor's financial statements and the earning potential of business enterprises to make recommendations for commercial/business loan applications; AND
  4. Analyzing obligor's financial conditions to determine repayment ability for commercial loans for small businesses through a lending institution loan program.


These qualifications must be clearly referenced in your resume.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Generally, time in Non-Pay status as a federal employee is not creditable towards the specialized experience requirement listed above.

All qualification requirements must be met by 11:59 pm (Eastern Time) on 09/01/2026.
