Summary

This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Office of Intelligence & Analysis (I&A).

The primary purpose of this position is responsible for supervising employees who perform a wide range of computer programming, analysis, network, and/or equipment assignments. Develops goals and objectives integrating organization and I&A objectives.

Non-BU: This is a non-bargaining unit position.

As a Supervisory IT Specialist (Risk Management Branch Chief), GS-2210-15, your typical work assignments may include:

  • Acquire and manage the necessary resources, including leadership support, financial resources, and key security personnel, to support information technology (IT) security goals and objectives and reduce overall organizational risk.
  • Manages, directs, and coordinates a program that identifies Federal IT security requirements and develops the strategies that counter evolving threats in a rapidly changing global environment.
  • Establishes and evaluates procedures and methods for determining risk, vulnerabilities, and possible criticism of program operations, performance, and work processes to senior leadership.
  • Analyzes, evaluates, and verifies security profiles for Federal agency computer systems, networks, worldwide Information Systems (IS) and telecommunication systems to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability of critical government information.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of advancements in technology and changes to related security policy and prepares detailed program briefings addressing problems and recommended courses of action. Serve as a technical advisor to the Chief/Deputy Chief Information Security Officer on program effectiveness, efficiency, policy, and directs the evaluation of IT methods and practices to ensure best value to the government.
  • Implement an effective risk management process/program and serves as senior risk advisor to the Chief and Deputy Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and/or designated Authorizing Official (AO).

Specialized Experience:

You qualify for the GS-15 grade level if you possess the specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-14 level in the Federal service, or comparable private sector experience. For this position, specialized experience is defined as:

  • Extensive knowledge in Analyzing, evaluating, and verifying security profiles for Federal agency computer systems, networks, worldwide Information Systems (IS) and telecommunication systems to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability of critical government information.
  • General knowledge in Managing appropriated funds in compliance with policies, procedures and guidelines established by the Office of the Controller and OBM. Issues operating budget plans or targets upon receipt of approved allowances.
  • Extensive knowledge in Implementing an effective risk management process/program and developing, defining, and delivering briefings to senior level government stakeholders; applies analytical and evaluative techniques to the identification, consideration, and resolution of real or potential threats to the intelligence enterprise (IE).
  • Extensive knowledge in Planning of strategic goals for subordinates, sets and adjust short and long-term priorities based on leadership's objectives.
  • Extensive knowledge in Managed the development, design, composition, and editing of various types of documents and materials for communicating cybersecurity information with senior leadership, federal departments, and agencies.
