As a Supervisory IT Specialist (National Vetting Center Technical Director), GS-2210-15, your typical work assignments may include:
- Provides policy guidance for National Vetting Center managers and officials, identifying and addressing IT capabilities issues through the rigorous application of information assurance policies, principles, and practices to ensure proper alignment and consistency of Department-wide and IC mission requirements.
- Plans, organizes, and controls overall activities to develop and operate the data infrastructure in support of the National Vetting Center. Responsible for the lifecycle development plan; serves as the single point of program interface for other related or supporting projects; and directs and provides expertise for all phases of the program from inception through completion.
- Provides technical oversight and provides strategic technical guidance.
- Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities over engineers and program managers.
- Often serves as the National Vetting Center IT expert and principal l&A representative on technical matters with other DHS agencies and, as required, other Intelligence Community agencies. Prepares and presents briefings holds discussions, and in coordination with other experts, makes commitments relative to mission matters to higher level officials. Presents I&A programs and accomplishments to higher level I&A and DHS officials on a periodic basis. Serves as a member, chair, or advisor to I&A committees and activities.

QualificationsIndividual Occupational Requirement This position has an Individual Occupational Requirement that must be met prior to meeting the specialized experience. Applicant must possess IT-related experience demonstrating each of the nine (9) competencies listed below:

Specialized Experience:You qualify for the GS-15 grade level if you possess the specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-14 level in the Federal service, or comparable private sector experience. For this position, specialized experience is defined as: lead a large organization supervising, leading, and mentoring IT Project Managers who oversee the day-to-day operations of the team requiring background, education, and experience as a first- or second-line federal supervisor of employees. The incumbent will require knowledge or experience managing the inventory, cataloguing, and accountability or governance of data-centric organizations and experience leading interagency initiatives that greatly advance or alter how data is used strategically as an asset to enable mission requirements.
