Summary

About the Position: Incumbent will serve as a Supervisory Health System Specialist for the Directorate of Health Services at the Naval Health Clinic Annapolis in Maryland. Responsible for providing comprehensive administrative support to the Deputy Command.

Duties

Help

  • Conduct analysis concerning all aspects of the assigned Military Healthcare System (MHS).
  • Optimize Healthcare System programs.
  • Solve complex and unusual issues by conducting research and analysis.
  • Advise policy makers on technical and regulatory issues related to the Healthcare System.
  • Recommend process improvements on health care systems issues.
  • Conduct cost-benefit and cost-effective analysis of healthcare programs.
  • Assign work based on priorities and responsibilities.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • This position has mandatory seasonal Influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal Influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • This position requires the incumbent to have Tuberculosis testing.
  • This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • Position is designated as Inclement Weather Essential. The incumbent must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
  • Travel up to 15% may be required.
  • This position may require the incumbent to complete a one-year supervisory probationary period.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes retrieving and analyzing clinical data to identify issues, trends and/or deficiencies in healthcare operations, systems or programs; evaluating healthcare systems/programs and clinical care metrics to recommend improvements to Department Chiefs/Managers and Leadership; monitoring clinical operations and programs for compliance with established healthcare regulatory policies, procedures and standards; and managing & preparing annual budget and track expenditures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-11.

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience aloneno substitution of education for experience is permitted.
