Duties

Help

  • Serves as Department of Defense Agencies and Field Activities Vendor Pay Director to manage, plan, implement, and evaluate financial programs through knowledge of the entitlement process and related procedures, regulations, and financial systems.
  • Exercises full supervision and management authority for long range planning, goal setting, and evaluation of subordinate staff. Monitors work, identifies and resolves problems, and assesses overall effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity.
  • Plans, organizes, directs, coordinates, and reviews the work of subordinate organizational elements involved in carrying out the mission and functions of the organization.
  • Reviews, analyzes and evaluates the status of performance measures and key indicators for assessing the efficiency and effectiveness of Vendor Pay Operations.
  • Ensures that DFAS programs and policies are implemented in accordance with Agency goals and objectives and are consistent with management objectives of the DFAS Director.

Qualifications

One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-13) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.

Specialized experience is defined as: providing expert-level Vendor Pay and administrative consulting services, management advice, and assistance to support customers in the resolution of the most complex issues related to operational Vendor Pay and administrative work; managing the financial systems and programs that support the payment process.

You may qualify for consideration if meeting specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.

Education

GS 12 and above: Education is not substitutable for specialized experience at this grade level.

Failure to become certified within the required time-frame may be grounds for removal from the position and/or from Federal service.
