You will serve as a Supervisory Facility Operations Specialist. Serves as a Branch Chief and reports directly to the division Director; is responsible for developing and implementing a park program to ensure maintenance and preservation management of park facilities. You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 1 nights per month. You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes. First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the step 1 rate. Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: • Provide facility management leadership & direction for the operations and serves as an effective member of the facility management leadership team. • Develop and coordinates plans and objectives to support mission requirements. • Use and oversee the use of National Park Service software systems for management of assets, project development and funding, and construction processes. • Develop budget, spending plan and work plans to implement maintenance work group priorities. • Develop and implement a comprehensive safety and training program to eliminate at risk behaviors and environments and enforce regulatory policies and mandates. Minimum Qualification Requirements: To qualify for this position, you must meet the following minimum qualifications: To qualify for this position at the GS-13 grade level: • Specialized Experience Requirement: you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience: Assisting with leading a facilities maintenance team including planning, coordinating, executing, and monitoring the work of others; Planning maintenance activities and preventative maintenance programs for a facility; Estimating materials and labor costs for a variety of maintenance projects or contracts; Collaborating with partners to create and prioritize projects, plans, and programs; Developing spending plans, contract requirements, complex project proposals, and estimates using project management systems. You must include hours per week worked. Physical Demands: Work is mostly sedentary; however, many field areas are remote and physical ability to travel on foot, operate off-road vehicles over rough terrain, travel in and/or operate boats, travel in light aircraft, or travel in similar conveyances is necessary. Work Environment: Required to walk, bend, climb, crawl, and sit at a desk for long periods of time. May occasionally be exposed to dirt, grime, splinters, oil, fuel, chlorine, sewage, etc. This includes exposure to temperature extremes, adverse weather conditions and blowing dust and sand. Must travel out of the area frequently to conduct official business for the park. Travel will incolve airplane, boat, and land vehicles.
