Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following:
- The employee serves as the primary emergency manager and continuity coordinator for the PFPA and the central EM coordinator for the Pentagon Reservation.
- Establishes and maintains strong and effective working relationships with program personnel from PFPA Divisions and Offices, DoW, Department of Homeland Security/Federal Emergency Management Agency and other Federal, state, and local agencies to facilitate emergency awareness, planning, preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation. Seeks opportunities for partnership activities with other EM organizations.
- Ensures Division and multi-Division drills and Pentagon-wide exercises are planned in accordance with fundamental Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program principles to test capabilities, familiarize personnel with roles and responsibilities, and foster meaningful interaction and communication across organizations.
- Directs projects involving major EMD initiatives, such as policy development, strategic planning and development, and operational improvements, and inter-Division collaboration.

QualificationsIn order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below.You may qualify at the GS-15 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:One year of specialized experience in the same or similar work equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-14) requiring application of the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the position being filled. Applicants for this position must clearly demonstrate in their resume that they possess specialized experience in 1) identifying mission essential functions, facilities, and systems, including national critical infrastructure; 2) providing strategic oversight of all emergency response activities; 3) directing projects involving major initiatives for policy development and strategic planning and development.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

ACTIVE DUTY SERVICE MEMBERS: Federal agencies treat active duty service member as veterans, disabled veterans, and preference eligible, when they submit, as part of their application package, a "certification" of active service in lieu of a DD-214, indicating the service member is otherwise eligible and will be discharged or released within 120 days from the date of submission..
