As a 1st-level supervisor within the 557th Software Engineering Squadron (557 SWES), you will direct the development, architectural design, and sustainment of the critical Operational Flight Program (OFP) and weapons integration software for the nation's premier strategic bomber. What you will accomplish: - Legendary Platform, Modern Tech: Drive the modernization of the B-52 fleet by introducing advanced software architecture, virtualization, and code optimization to iconic avionics systems. - Direct Warfighter Lethality: Your team writes and sustains the software that directly controls weapons integration, ensuring the B-52 can deploy both current and next-generation armament. - Frontline Leadership: Serve as a pivotal leader and mentor, actively shaping the careers of your engineers while acting as a trusted technical advisor to the B-52 System Program Office (SPO). - Technical Team Leadership: Exercise 1st-level supervisory and position management authority, guiding the daily work, accountability, and professional growth of subordinate engineers. - Avionics Software (OFP) Delivery: Direct the design, optimization, and delivery of complex B-52 Operational Flight Program (OFP) software across the entire product lifecycle. - Weapons Integration: Oversee the development and sustainment of the Stores Management Overlay (SMO) software, enabling the seamless integration of modern weapons payloads onto the B-52. - SPO & Warfighter Support: Provide rapid engineering services, interface troubleshooting, and systems integration support directly to the SPO and frontline warfighters. What is needed: - An empowering technical leader with proven experience supervising engineering personnel, managing workloads, and fostering a culture of accountability and innovation. - A software architecture expert deeply familiar with avionics flight software (OFP), systems virtualization, and complex weapons integration. - A mission-focused problem solver capable of troubleshooting complex interface issues and translating technical requirements into operational readiness for the warfighter. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures. 3. Knowledge of standard contracting regulations, practices, and procedures. 4. Ability to utilize Art of Possible (AoP) concepts and initiatives to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization. 5. Knowledge of budgeting, procurement, standard configuration and finding regulations, practices and processes related to system acquisition and sustainment management functions.
