Summary

The Office of Enforcement Operations (OEO) provides investigative & prosecutorial support, legal advice, and statutorily required review and approval in almost 40 distinct subject areas. OEO oversees the use of the most sophisticated investigative tools of the federal government, including electronic surveillance, the Federal Witness Security Program, media subpoenas, and witness immunity requests. OEO provides legal advice to federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies on these programs.

The Supervisory Case Analyst serves as a Deputy Chief in the Special Operations Unit (SOU) with primary responsibilities in witness security and other sensitive operations. The incumbent is required to perform very critical, highly complex, far-reaching and precedent-setting assignments to assist the Chief of the SOU in determining and monitoring the use of highly specialized and sensitive investigative tools. These include the administration and management of the Federal Witness Security Program and the use and targeting of federal prisoners in covert investigative activities. In addition, the position:

• Provides administrative and technical supervision necessary for accomplishing the work of the unit.
• Performs the administrative and human resource management functions relative to the staff supervised.
• Plans, schedules, and assigns work to subordinates.
• Establishes guidelines and performance expectations for staff members; provides feedback and periodically evaluates employee performance. Provides advice, counsel, and/or instruction to staff members.
• Recommends or approves appointments, selections, or reassignments to positions appropriate to the selection authority delegated. Effects disciplinary measures as appropriate to the authority delegated in this area.

Qualifications

To qualify at the GS-14 level, applicants must have one year specialized experience at, or equivalent to, the GS-13 federal grade level. Examples of specialized experience include: providing direct or supervisory support to a program that applies and/or administers statutory or regulatory programs, such as Title 18 USC 3521, et seq., or assistance to witnesses with security/safety issues; coordinates with interagency components to achieve program objectives; and provides analysis and advice on issues related to agency programs such as Title 18 USC 3521 or other witness security or safety issues.
