KEY REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be a current, permanent FBI employee

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work is primarily sedentary, although some physical effort may be required. Employee may be required to lift moderately heavy items of approximately 20 lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is typically performed in an adequately lighted and climate controlled office. However, work may also be performed in shipping/receiving areas, warehouse environments, and records storage areas. Protective clothing and gear, and observance of safety precautions may be required, depending on the type of work performed. Occasional travel may be required.
MAJOR DUTIES
  • Oversees a team of employees responsible for human resources
  • Implements administrative programs which support the investigative operations of the office and develops administrative guidelines, goals, objectives, and criteria for measuring accomplishments for programs supervised.
  • Develops solutions and work accomplishment plans to meet program goals and objectives; plans for and adjusts work assignments to meet deadlines; and manages work operations to effectively utilize available resources.
  • Provides advice and counsels on employee conduct and other administrative matters.
  • Sets specific goals, objectives, priorities, and deadlines to meet demands.
  • Participates in the decision-making process concerning policy matters for program(s) supervised.

Specialized Experience (SE)
GS-11: Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of SE equivalent to the GS-9 grade level. SE is defined as follows:
  • Conducted research and analysis in support of projects and/or specific studies measuring the effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity of work operations and made recommendations to improve processes
  • Collaborated with internal and external stakeholders to determine needs and meet objectives

GS-12: Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of SE equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. SE is defined as follows:

  • Identified, established and implemented organizational program goals
  • Determined operational needs and allocated resources to ensure continuity of operations

Education
All degrees must be from an accredited college or university. Education may be substituted for specialized experience as follows:
GS-11: Applicant must have a Ph.D. OR equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.M., if related.
GS-12: Education may not be substituted at this grade level.
Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the above requirements provided you can show foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States.

  • The selectee will be required to serve a one-year probationary period for initial assignment to a supervisory position.
  • Required Leadership Training: All FBI supervisors promoted after January 2022 are required to attend and complete the Training Division's Supervisor Essentials Program within 365 days from initial assignment into a supervisory position. Supervisors will need to complete both the "Mentoring and Coaching" and "Performance Appraisals" courses as part of the Supervisor Essentials program. The Supervisor Essentials course is a pre-requisite for the new Leading People (Virtual) and face-to-face version (VLP) that will be offered beginning the 2nd Quarter of 2022.
  • Limited Movement: Policy has been implemented wherein support employees entering a position may be precluded from moving to another position within the Bureau through reassignment or change to a lower grade for a minimum of 12 months. HRD will waive this limited movement policy for qualified employees, who have received an official notification letter that their current position is being relocated due to an organizational restructuring initiative, so those employees can compete for a position elsewhere. Voluntarily leaving a position with a relocation incentive may result in loss of that incentive. Please notate that you have received an official notification letter within your application.
  • Probationary employees are precluded from being considered for all job opportunities until 12-months of their 24-month probationary period has concluded. Probationary employees may be considered for competitive vacancies that are advertised within their respective division or field office after serving 90 days within the FBI.

  • Relocation expenses will be borne by the selectee, except FBI employees returning from LEGAT assignment. Employees returning from LEGAT assignments must advise the Staffing and Administrative Unit / International Operations Division of their application for this position.
