Supervisor Volunteer Services

Health Services – Health Strategy, Planning and Partnerships

Status: 1 Regular Full Time

Hiring Range: $94,455.00 - $106,262.00 per annum (plus comprehensive benefits, where applicable)

Location: 7120 Hurontario St., Mississauga

Hours of Work: 35 hours per week

What You'll Do:

As the Supervisor Volunteer Services, you will lead the day-to-day operations of the Volunteer Services Program, ensuring the effective recruitment, engagement, development, and recognition of volunteers across Health Services and community partnerships. You will provide leadership to staff, oversee program planning and budget management, drive continuous improvement initiatives, ensure legislative compliance, and optimize service delivery to support organizational goals and community impact.

In this role, you will lead and supervise a team of 4 direct reports. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Provide leadership and day-to-day operational oversight of the Volunteer Services Program across Health Services.
  • Build and sustain an engaged workforce, including performance management, coaching, training, workforce planning, and professional development.
  • Develop and implement volunteer recruitment, engagement, retention, recognition, and succession strategies to meet organizational and community needs.
  • Lead the volunteer management lifecycle including recruitment, onboarding, screening, placement, scheduling, training, evaluation, and recognition.
  • Oversee the Volunteer Resource Information System, including data integrity, reporting, troubleshooting, user testing, and vendor coordination.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and support team in continuous quality improvement.
  • Develop and manage the annual operating budget and ensure expenditures are aligned with approved financial plans.
  • Proactively work with data and information to understand trends in volunteer resource utilization that require management attention or action.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, standards, organizational policies, and best practices, including AODA, Human Rights legislation, and workplace safety requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with internal clients, to lead and execute a volunteer strategy for the Health Services department.
  • Develop and maintain positive partnerships with internal/external clients and interest holders.
  • Lead and support volunteer recognition programs and events that celebrate volunteer contributions across Health Services.
  • Prepare reports, briefing materials, business updates, and presentations for leadership and stakeholders.
  • Champion volunteerism by promoting and advocating for volunteers and the value of volunteerism.

What You'll Need:

  • Relevant university degree, combined with 5 years experience in volunteer resources management.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Canadian Code of Volunteer Involvement and Knowledge of the Volunteer Management Cycle (recruitment, screening, selection, evaluation, retention, recognition: trends in volunteer management; and accreditation standards
  • Experience managing volunteer databases or volunteer resource information systems.
  • Experience with budget management, program evaluation, quality improvement, and performance reporting.
  • Strong understanding of legislative and regulatory requirements impacting volunteer programs.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
