Job Title: Supervisor, Vegetation Program Management - Analytics & Finance

Location: Onsite in Akron OH, Greensburg, PA, Reading, PA, Fairmont, WV, or Holmdel, NJ. (Other FE locations may be considered)

Position Overview

The Supervisor, Vegetation Program Management - Analytics & Finance reports to the Manager, Vegetation Program Management. This is a full-time, on-site position located at any FirstEnergy office location.

This position oversees business unit financials, reporting, data analysis, and operational support for Vegetation Management. The supervisor leads a team that supports financial management, strategic and capital planning, forecasting, budgeting, regulatory and audit requests, benchmarking, reliability reporting, key performance indicator (KPI) tracking, business integration, and data analytics. The role partners with employees across the organization, including subject matter experts and senior executive leaders, to identify trends, strengthen controls, improve processes, and support data-informed business decisions.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead, coach, and develop employees responsible for financial management, reporting, analytics, and operational support.
  • Oversee financial processes, controls, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, variances, accruals, invoicing, requisitions, purchase orders, storm accounting, and related transactions.
  • Ensure financial activities, processes, and procedures comply with company accounting policies, internal controls, regulatory requirements, and business unit standards.
  • Monitor performance, reliability, compliance, operational, and financial metrics; identify trends, risks, gaps, mitigation measures, data validation, and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Analyze financial, operational, and reliability data, manage expenses, reduce costs, track actuals against forecasts, and proactively provide reports, communications, and recommendations to senior executive leadership.
  • Support strategic planning, capital planning, multi-year forecasting, KPIs, business cases, rate cases, audits, regulatory filings, legal testimony, grants, benchmarking, and program initiatives.
  • Conduct advanced data analysis, interpret results, support AI-related data initiatives, and partner with report developers to improve dashboards, reporting tools, identifying trends, predictive modeling, and data extraction processes in Azure and Databricks workspaces.
  • Develop, maintain, and standardize financial controls, documents, templates, workflows, processes, tools, reports, and shared information resources.
  • Maintain, support, and ensure timely, accurate processing of data for contractor timesheets, invoices, and reports within the Vegetation Management timesheet and invoicing retention system (VGMS).
  • Support contract administration, procurement activities, bid files, should-cost updates, change orders, scorecards, Coupa support, and vendor incentive or penalty assessments.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement efforts, automation, evolving financial requests, emerging technology initiatives, process standardization, and business unit change management.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders to support financial, operational, reliability, regulatory, and reporting needs.
  • Provide excellent customer service, lead meetings, conduct training, attend industry conferences, engage in peer utility benchmarking, deliver program communication, implement change management, and design stakeholder reporting materials.
  • Deliver and develop presentations and reporting materials to management, regulators, stakeholder groups internally and externally, and executive senior leadership.
  • Perform storm restoration activities, field observations, or field inspections as required.
  • Travel occasionally to moderately, including overnight stays, throughout Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, West Virginia, and Maryland.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, data analytics, data science, or related discipline.
  • In lieu of a bachelor's degree, an associate degree with seven years of related work experience, or a high school diploma/GED with 14 or more years of related work experience in accounting, finance, data analytics, data science, or a related discipline.
  • Strong leadership, organization, time management, presentation, note-taking, and customer service skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including public speaking, executive summaries, and technical writing.
  • Ability to lead teams, coach employees, facilitate meetings, resolve conflict, negotiate, and make sound decisions independently or in a team environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships and credibility with employees, customers, contractors, and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, meet strict deadlines, and provide support in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with SAP, Coupa, Empower, QlikView, Power BI, Toad Data Point, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, OneNote, OPPM, Azure Databricks, and related business applications.
  • Experience collecting, organizing, reporting, and analyzing data from multiple sources to support compliance, financial deadlines, program expectations, and leadership decisions.
  • Proven experience with complex analysis, forecasting, portfolio oversight, process improvement, and strategic support.
  • High level of independence, leadership, critical thinking, problem-solving, and strategic contribution.
  • Prior supervisory experience is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of utility vegetation management is a plus.
  • Willingness to support storm restoration efforts as required.
  • Possess and maintain a valid state-issued driver's license and willingness to travel throughout the service territory.

FirstEnergy takes a market-based approach to pay, which may vary depending on your location. In addition, your actual base salary will depend on various factors such as your skills, qualifications, and experience.

The estimated pay range for this role is $103,275- $121,500. The pay range for certain locations, including the state of New Jersey, include a 20% differential to account for an increased cost of living, making the pay range for NJ $123,930 - $145,800.
