Pay Range: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

Plans and implements treatment in coordination with the multi-disciplinary team. Supervises therapists, clinical assistants, mobility team as appropriate. Assists Director to manage the daily clinical operations of the Speech Therapy service. Ensure that Speech Therapy department is in compliance with all applicable policies, laws and regulations,

Qualifications:

Required:
  • Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology
  • NJ State Speech-Language Pathology License
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence from American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
  • Member of ASHA
  • AHA BLS Provider Certification
  • 3-5 years of clinical experience in acute care setting
  • Evidence of continuing education is necessary to meet licensing requirements
  • Thorough knowledge of the theoretical principles and clinical application employed in the diagnosis and management of various communication and swallowing disorders
  • Tact, initiative and judgment in the performance of duties

Preferred:
  • Previous Supervisor experience

Certifications and Licenses Required:
  • NJ State Speech-Language Pathology License or eligible
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence from American Speech-Language-Hearing Association or eligible
  • Speech Correctionist or Speech-Language Specialist Certificate
  • Member of ASHA
  • AHA BLS Provider Certification

Scheduling Requirements:
  • Full Time
  • 37.5 hours/week

Patient Evaluation
  • Selects and administers appropriate examination techniques; evaluates and re-evaluates data to assess patient s level of performance and areas of impairment; develops goals based on evaluation and the needs of each individual patient, addressing cognitive, physical, emotional, and social needs; ensures operation that maintains maximum productivity and quality of care; demonstrates the ability to identify patient s/family educational needs, and participates in the teaching process; and makes appropriate discharge recommendations and updates, as needed

Clinical Service Line
  • Manages clinical service line(s) including orientation of new and existing staff,the interdisciplinary team within the service line and attends meetings, rounds and committees that pertain to that service line; directly supervises the service line specific seniors and assists the Director with revising or developing new programming within the service line

Supervision Clinical and Non-Clinical
  • Directly supervises the clinical and non-clinical work of the therapy staff and keeps the director informed; acts as a consultant to therapists for clinical decision making and the development of treatment programs; promotes staff development through utilization of appropriate learning resources to assure high quality of care and practice within state and national standards

Performance Improvement
  • Assist the Director with development, coordination and oversight of new and existing services in order to meet programming needs and demands for therapy services; makes recommendations for space, equipment and facilities needed to meet those needs; identifies indicators, conducts data collection and analysis in conjunction with the Medical Center s performance improvement program; provides Director with constructive input regarding the overall growth and direction of the Rehabilitation department as needed and facilitates positive working relationships between Rehabilitation Department team members and the interdisciplinary team

Administrative/Operational Duties
  • Verifies staff complete all RWJ mandatory inservices on an annual basis; delegates Rehabilitation Department tasks to capable staff members; performs 1:1 rounding with staff using the monthly meeting model; orders supplies to maintain effective functioning of the department while adhering to budgetary guidelines and targets; oversees the administration and operation of the Clinical Education program, volunteer program and In-service education program; implements and supervises orientation and competency of new staff and ensures ongoing competency of existing staff

Departmental Compliance
  • Proactively addresses department needs with regard to scheduling, billing, payroll and staffing to allow for effective functioning of the department and improve department productivity; prepares required reports as necessary reflecting Physical/Occupational/Speech therapy activity including productivity measurements, etc.
  • Ensures compliance of policies and procedures which are consistent with the objectives of the department/Medical Center and assists the Director with the development of new policies and procedures as needed; assists the Director in interview and selection, promotion and termination of physical/occupational therapy staff and develops

May perform other duties as assigned or directed by management
