POSITION: Supervisor, Quality Assurance Inspection
REPORTS TO: Manager Quality Assurance
DEPARTMENT: Quality Assurance
LOCATION: North Bay
REFERENCE: 390-68B-27
SALARY: $100,412 - $118,144

ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT:
The Supervisor, Quality Assurance Inspection is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and timely completion of all the types of quality assurance inspection and calibration work for internal and external projects. This position will ensure inspection requirements are met, and the work is completed in accordance with all applicable internal, customer and regulatory requirements. The Supervisor will also provide leadership and direct supervision to all Quality Assurance inspectors.

MAJOR DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Supervise, educate and develop a safe work environment and adhere to the collective agreement
  • Organize, prioritize, and plan inspections performed in car shop, diesel shop, paint shop, etc. for internal and external locomotive, freight and passenger customers
  • Ensure work performed meets AAR, Transport Canada and other rules and regulations
  • Provide technical support as required to internal and external customers
  • Participate in Health and Safety discipline investigations, and Intelex observations and inspections
  • First point for QA inspector team concerns or complaints
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety and company policies
  • Review customer scope of work for various projects to support developing ITPs
  • Propose updates to procedures, work instructions, forms, etc. to define inspection criteria and record inspections
  • Support and streamline equipment/gauge calibration process
  • Support implementation of incoming inspection criteria and documentation
  • Meet daily with the team to discuss the day-to-day operations including prioritizing work and coordinating tasks
  • Coordinate with external and internal customers for upcoming work, project status and inspection needs
  • Monitor applicable training and documentation is current to meet AAR, Transport Canada qualifications including forecasting future training needs
  • Prepare for internal and external audits, including associated documentation, participate in conducting Internal Audits
  • Track training in accordance with applicable documents to ensure staff meet requirements
  • Coach and develop a self-organizing team of inspectors
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Previous supervisory experience, preferably in a unionized environment
  • 3-5 years' experience in process improvements, Association of American Railroads (AAR) regulations and ISO 9001:2015 is preferred
  • 3-5 years recent experience in QA inspections
  • Secondary School Diploma or General Educational Diploma (GED)
  • ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor certification
  • Certification in Non-destructive Testing (NDT) is preferred
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and SharePoint
  • Planning and organizing, problem solving, and conflict management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Valid G driver's license and the ability to travel up to 25% of the time
  • Ability to work occasional overtime as required
