Position SummaryThe Production Supervisor is responsible for providing leadership and direction to production employees while ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant manufacturing operations. This position plays a key role in meeting production schedules and customer requirements while maintaining high standards for employee safety, food safety, product quality, productivity, housekeeping, and equipment reliability.
The Production Supervisor reports to the Production Manager and works closely with cross-functional teams, including Planning, Warehouse, Quality, and Maintenance, to support daily plant operations and resolve production challenges.
Key Responsibilities- Direct daily production activities to ensure production schedules, customer requirements, and business objectives are met.
- Provide visible leadership and accountability for employee safety and food safety.
- Ensure employees follow company safety policies, GMPs, food safety procedures, regulatory requirements, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.
- Promote a strong safety culture through daily communication, coaching, observations, and employee engagement.
- Monitor production performance, including throughput, OEE, downtime, yields, waste, and labor utilization.
- Identify and address production issues and bottlenecks in a timely manner.
- Coordinate with Planning, Warehouse, Quality, and Maintenance to resolve operational issues.
- Ensure appropriate staffing and labor allocation to meet production requirements.
- Maintain accurate production records, reports, and documentation.
- Drive efficiency and continuous improvement throughout production operations.
- Partner with Quality personnel to address product deviations, customer complaints, and nonconformances.
- Maintain a positive, clean, and safe work environment for all employees.
- Review relevant documentation for adequacy and alignment with established quality systems.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in food, chemical, ingredient, or other process manufacturing.
- Supervisory experience in a union environment preferred.
- Food manufacturing and GMP experience preferred.
- Experience with HACCP, BRCGS, SQF, or another food safety system preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills.
- Ability to multitask, adapt to changing priorities, and respond effectively to short-notice situations.
- Ability to motivate employees and support continuous operational improvement.
Compensation & Work ArrangementThe salary range for this position is $80,000-$85,000 annually, based on qualifications, experience, and other job-related factors.
This position is based at our Grandview, MO facility and requires on-site, in person work.
