Full Job Description
Position Summary

The Shop Supervisor reports directly to the Accountable Manager and is responsible for the daily operations of the Repair Station. In their absence, the Shop Supervisor may assume the responsibilities of the Accountable Manager and/or Chief Inspector.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Train, direct, supervise and assist Repair Station service technicians and inspectors.
  • Direct the flow of work through the shop and ensure the continuity of work and inspection.
  • Ensure inspection and maintenance records, reports, and forms are all properly executed.
  • When needed, perform maintenance and alteration tasks, including disassembly, assembly, inspection and test, on articles in accordance with the current technical data provided in the manufacturers' Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA's), Services Bulletins (SB's), Service Letters (SL's), Airworthiness Directives (AD's), government and industry standard practices, and other data accepted/approved by the FAA.
  • Supervise implementation of established assembly and test procedures.
  • Ensure that maintenance and inspection personnel are thoroughly familiar with all tools and equipment, including inspection aids, used within their assigned area of responsibility.
  • Ensure appropriate calibrations and checks are made on all the tools and equipment used (including technician's personal tools). Take steps to ensure established calibration periods are not exceeded and proper records are maintained to document compliance.
  • Ensure the inspection tools and equipment, including inspection aids, used to perform inspections, are in proper working order and the proper calibration information is affixed.
  • Promote Safety Assurance and submit reports of serious safety risks in accordance with ITTAC's SMS Manual.
  • Periodically check the fire and safety equipment to ensure serviceability and adequacy.
  • Ensure the shop premises are maintained in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Primary responsibility for shelf-life material, scrap material and calibration.


Position Requirements

  • Understands, reads and writes English.
  • Is appropriately certificated as a mechanic or repairman under 14 CFR Part 65 for the work being supervised.
  • Has experience, through training, knowledge, employment history or practical tests necessary to perform the scope of work assigned.
  • Is thoroughly familiar with the applicable regulations of 14 CFR Part 145 and with the inspection methods, techniques, practices, aids, equipment, and tools used to determine the airworthiness of the article on which maintenance, preventive maintenance, or alterations are being performed.
  • Is proficient in using the tools, equipment, and inspection aids applicable to the scope of work assigned.
  • Understands the methods, techniques and practices outlined in the manufacturer's maintenance documents, Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins, service letters, specifications, and data approved by the FAA.
  • Understands the procedures set forth in the RSM/QCM for documenting the work performed.
