Full Job Description
Supervisor of STEM PreK-12 West Springfield Public Schools The Supervisor of STEM- PreK-12 collaborates with district and school leaders to facilitate and execute the district's Strategic Plan with fidelity and integrity. DUTIES: -Reports to the Executive Director of Instruction and Elementary Education. -Demonstrate knowledge and expertise of the 2017 MA Math Curriculum Framework and 2016 Science and Technology Engineering Framework within an MTSS Model. -Assist in developing, implementing, and evaluating effective districtwide and school-based Mathematics and Science professional development. -Assist in school-based planning, resource development, and problem-solving around district priorities related to Mathematics, Science, and Technology. -Plan courses and other professional development opportunities for educators to effectively support student achievement in Mathematics. -Provides professional development for teachers (classroom, special education, and specialists) and paraprofessionals, regarding program description, assessment, curriculum, strategies, and instructional materials. -Build strong working relationships with school and district leadership to identify program needs as well as develop plans that support and align with the district's strategic plan. -Build the capacity of school administrators and school leadership teams by providing effective training, guidance, and facilitation to ensure high-quality PD delivery. -Monitors the implementation of district-wide Mathematics and Science curricula. -Conduct formal and informal observations and evaluations of educators to promote exceptional teaching and learning experiences for all students. -Partner with academic team members to ensure students receive the necessary support to access the grade-level curriculum and content. -Analyze and disaggregate district and school data and identify strategies for improvement for all learners. -Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of the district's Math and Science programming and implement changes based on the findings. -Coordinates and monitors curriculum review and adoption for grades PK-12. -Displays and fosters a positive attitude toward understanding the educational needs of all students. -Assists teachers by providing consultation, mentoring, and support. -Perform other related duties in accordance with the district's values of collaboration, cross-functionality, and accountability as requested or directed by the Executive Direction of Instruction and Elementary Education. QUALIFICATIONS: -Possesses a master's degree from an accredited college or university. -Licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary School Education (DESE) as a Director/Supervisor of Mathematics or Science or Licensed as a Principal/Assistant Principal -Has completed a minimum of 5 years of experience working directly with students, with most of the teaching experience in the mathematics or science content area. -Demonstrate growth in student achievement based on assessments over the past one to two years. -Experience preparing and managing budgets. -Experience planning and implementing professional development. -Proven leadership skills. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: -Possesses the following Math Recovery Designations: AVMR Course 1, AVMR Course 2, and Math Recovery Specialist (MRIS/MRSp1). Champion Designation preferred. -Experience with Illustrative Mathematics and Ready Mathematics -Experience with OpenSciEd Contract: Individual Contract, 12 month Salary: $95,000 - $115,000, commensurate with experience
