Full Job Description
Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Supervisor MRI - Bellevue Hospital.

The Supervisor will work closely with and under the direction of the Chief Radiologist and Director of Radiology. Is responsible for staff supervision and overall performance of MRI exams and operations which includes efficiency, productivity, safety and quality of work of technical and ancillary staff

Job Responsibilities:
  • Perform medically prescribed MRI scans.
  • Supervise the staff technologists and provide guidance to Nursing, Transport, Clerical, PCT and PCA personnel in the duties required to meet the unique needs of the MRI area.
  • Represent the MRI area and be a sitting member in the Radiology QA committee.
  • Schedule and perform hospital wide MRI safety training classes.
  • Design, review and make improvement recommendations and implement solutions to the existing departmental policies.
  • Coordinate quality control checks and schedule preventive maintenance service for all of equipment in the MRI area.
  • Maintain all required documentation for the MRI units and the technicians.
  • Ensure that ACR accreditation is maintained for the MRI area.
  • Plan and coordinate for uninterrupted MRI service during a downtime of the clinical systems, the PACS, any of the MRI modalities, a disaster or staff shortages.
  • Provides support to Radiology Administration ensuring that management is appraised of all work situations and the performance of each employee and each MRI scanner on an ongoing basis, giving clear and accurate information.
  • Train the staff in the segmentation or splitting of MRI scans before or after sending them to the PACS.
  • Interview, train and certify newly hired MRI staff.
  • Prepare the vacation schedule including emergency requests week end rotations and the use of overtime.
  • Ensures that the staff attendance is on time and documented daily in the sign in and sign out sheet.
  • Monitor the In-Progress queue ensuring that the staff document exams after they are done.
  • Complete the online performance evaluations for the MRI technical staff.
  • Manage, define and supervise the 4 safety zones in the MRI department.
  • Ensure and plan for the safety of all patients, the staff and the magnets during regular and off hours.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum of 4 years of MRI experience
  • New York State Radiologic Technologist License
  • Advanced ARRT Certification in MRI
  • Intravenous Contrast Administration Certification (New York State)
  • BLS Certification

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $101,493.51 - $175,076.17 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
