A Day in the Life

  • Provide direct leadership, coaching, development, recognition, and performance management for Logistics Operations Specialists.
  • Ensure safe, reliable, compliant, and cost-effective execution of assigned logistics operations, including delivery planning, shipment readiness, and inventory coordination.
  • Lead daily prioritization, workload balancing, staffing coverage, operational handoffs, and business continuity planning.
  • Establish clear expectations, standard work, escalation paths, and decision-making responsibilities; hold employees accountable for performance, behaviors, and process adherence.
  • Build a respectful and inclusive environment that promotes trust, accountability, psychological safety, continuous learning, and employee development.
  • Maintain regular one-on-one meetings and team communication through visible, hands-on leadership during disruptions, staffing constraints, system issues, and elevated workload.
  • Partner with Manufacturing, Customer Service, Transportation, Operations Planning, Quality, Digital Technology, and other stakeholders to resolve issues and improve end-to-end performance.
  • Lead response and recovery activities for shipment disruptions, inventory constraints, system issues, quality events, and customer-impacting incidents.
  • Ensure incidents and complaints receive timely containment, root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, assigned ownership, target completion dates, documentation, and effectiveness verification.
  • Own operational performance routines covering safety, quality, delivery, cost, productivity, customer service, process compliance, and people indicators; assign corrective actions and escalate barriers when results fall outside expectations.
  • Ensure team processes, documentation, and controls comply with applicable company, quality, audit, regulatory, product stewardship, and business requirements.
  • Maintain current procedures, desk documentation, cross-training plans, backup coverage, shift or desk handoffs, and manual workarounds for system disruptions.
  • Lead operational readiness, testing, training, adoption, stabilization, and post-implementation follow-up for process, automation, and technology changes.
  • Identify systemic risks, recurring failures, data or control gaps, automation opportunities, and process improvements; escalate recommendations to the appropriate owners.
  • Coordinate with internal functions and Logistics Service Providers to document, escalate, and resolve recurring execution, service-performance, or process-compliance concerns.
  • Communicate operational risks, priorities, decisions, ownership, recovery plans, and difficult news clearly, accurately, and promptly to stakeholders.
  • Model LyondellBasell competencies and reinforce safe, ethical, inclusive, customer-focused decision-making and strategic contribution.


You Bring This Value

  • At least eight years of relevant experience in supply chain, logistics, manufacturing, customer fulfillment, or a related operational environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related discipline is preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
  • Demonstrated (people) leadership experience or leadership of cross-functional teams or initiatives.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including concise and accurate business documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize work, delegate effectively, make timely decisions, and manage business-critical operational issues in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
  • Proficiency with SAP, Microsoft 365, business-intelligence tools, and relevant transportation or logistics systems.
  • Experience analyzing operational data, identifying trends, and translating findings into clear decisions, recommendations, and corrective actions.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated systems thinking and experience with change management, process standardization, system implementation, automation, or continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach employees, address difficult issues, provide timely feedback, and hold others accountable while developing team capability.
  • Ability to anticipate stakeholder concerns, build alignment, and influence adoption of new processes or decisions.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and escalate complex operational risks appropriately.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems, internal controls, audit readiness, product stewardship, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities, operational disruptions, and cross-functional commitments within challenging deadlines.
  • Composed in time-sensitive situations and able to communicate risks, decisions, and difficult news clearly and constructively.
  • Experience supervising employees in logistics, manufacturing, customer fulfillment, or another time-sensitive operational environment; knowledge of truck, rail, inventory, shipment-planning, and order-fulfillment processes is preferred.
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, structured problem-solving, root cause analysis, corrective-action implementation, KPI
    management, and Logistics Service Provider collaboration is preferred.
