POSITION OVERVIEW

The Mine Production Supervisor is responsible for directing and supervising haul truck operators and other mine production personnel to ensure safe, efficient, and productive mining operations. This role communicates daily work plans, monitors crew performance, and ensures mining activities are executed in accordance with established production targets, mine plans, and safety standards.

Working closely with Mine Operations, Technical Services, and Crushing Operations, the Mine Production Supervisor provides frontline leadership in the field, promotes a strong safety culture, and drives operational performance through effective workforce management, equipment utilization, and compliance with operating procedures.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Crew Leadership & Supervision: Directly supervise mine production personnel, communicate daily work assignments, conduct crew line-outs, and provide ongoing guidance to ensure safe and productive operations.
Safety & Compliance: Lead daily safety meetings and toolbox talks, conduct workplace examinations, ensure employees remain outside blast exclusion zones, and enforce company safety policies and procedures.
Incident Management: Respond to incidents, secure and preserve incident scenes, gather statements and evidence, complete incident documentation, and enter incident information into company reporting systems.
Performance Management: Conduct operator evaluations, administer positive recognition and corrective actions, monitor individual and crew performance, and support workforce development initiatives.
Production Execution: Ensure adherence to mine plans, dump designs, and operating procedures while achieving haulage and productivity targets within assigned work areas.
Haul Road & Dump Management: Monitor haul road conditions, switchbacks, dump locations, berm heights, dust control measures, and dump quality to support safe and efficient equipment operation.
Operational Monitoring: Track key performance indicators, review truck productivity metrics, and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and equipment utilization.
Fatigue Management: Review daily fatigue monitoring reports and address concerns to support safe equipment operation.
Workforce Administration: Manage crew attendance, vacation scheduling, and hourly payroll activities while maintaining accurate personnel records.
Reporting & Documentation: Complete required operational reports, inspections, audits, and performance documentation in a timely and accurate manner.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Required
• 10-15 years of mining experience in an open pit mining environment.
• Strong knowledge of drill, blast, load, and haul mining processes.
• Experience supervising production crews in a heavy industrial or mining operation.
• Experience in a copper mining operation.
• Experience using fleet management systems such as MineStar or similar platforms.
• Experience with SAP or similar purchasing program.
• Previous experience managing large production crews in an open pit mining environment.
• Strong computer proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and resolve operational issues.
• Ability to prioritize work, adapt to changing conditions, and make sound operational decisions.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English fluently.

WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS
• Work is performed in a combination of field and office environments, approximately 80% field-based and 20% office-based.
• Regularly walk and work on uneven ground, active mining areas, and around heavy mobile equipment.
• Climb stairs, access elevated work areas, and navigate varying terrain conditions.
• Frequently stand and walk for extended periods.
• Occasionally kneel, crawl, stoop, bend, and squat while conducting inspections and field observations.
• May be required to work in confined spaces on an occasional basis.
• Exposure to dust, noise, vibration, changing weather conditions, and other environmental conditions common to surface mining operations.
• Must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).

All candidates will be required to complete a pre-employment medical exam, drug and alcohol test, and background check. All positions require a pre-placement physical examination to ensure candidates are 'fit for duty'. Additional training and/or testing may be required. Capstone maintains a drug and alcohol-free workplace.
