The
Supervisor, Facilities & Engineering is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, calibration, and installation of facility and process equipment in a GMP-regulated biologics manufacturing environment. This position supervises a cross-functional team of Facilities Mechanics and Engineering Technicians, ensuring the reliable operation of building utilities, HVAC systems, clean utilities (e.g., WFI, clean steam), process equipment, and automation/control systems. The Supervisor ensures compliance with preventive maintenance programs, supports manufacturing operations, and coordinates internal and external resources to maintain a state of control across the facility. The Facilities Mechanic and Engineering Technician roles will report to the Supervisor, Facilities & Engineering on same shift.
The role:- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of Facilities Mechanics and Engineering Technicians across multiple shifts.
- Oversee operation and maintenance of utility systems including HVAC, clean steam generators, chillers, USP/DI water systems, boilers, air compressors, and refrigeration systems.
- Lead troubleshooting and repair of mechanical and electrical systems, including bioprocess equipment such as fermenters, bioreactors, centrifuges, TFF systems, chromatography skids, incubators, and CTUs.
- Develop and maintain preventive maintenance and calibration programs for facility and process systems using CMMS.
- Ensure proper functionality and monitoring of Building Automation Systems (BAS) and control systems.
- Generate and maintain SOPs, job aids, and maintenance records for equipment and systems.
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors for equipment maintenance, calibration, and repairs.
The candidate:- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
- 8+ years of relevant experience in maintenance or engineering.
- Minimum 2 years of demonstrated leadership capability gained through supervisory roles or senior/lead technician experience, including coordinating work, mentoring staff, or directing technical activities.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with calibration, preventive maintenance, and CMMS systems.
- Proficiency in automation and control systems operations and troubleshooting.
- Understanding of GMP, regulatory compliance, and cleanroom operations.
- Class III Stationary Engineer's License preferred.
The anticipated salary range for this position in Maryland is $95,000 - $120,000 plus an annual bonus target. The final salary offered to a successful candidate may vary, and will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to: the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, skillset, education, business needs, etc. Catalent is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
