Full Job Description
Position Overview:

The Front Line Manager - Fabrication & Welding is responsible for leading multiple production teams across fitting, welding, assembly, and associated fabrication operations within the Barberton facility. This role carries expanded ownership for cross-shift coordination, production planning, and operational decision-making within a complex, multi-building environment. The Front Line Manager ensures safe, high-quality, and efficient execution of work, proactively resolves operational challenges, and drives continuous improvement across processes, procedures, technology usage, and workforce effectiveness.

This position is primarily assigned to 3rd Shift; however, flexibility to transition between shifts, departments, and work areas is essential to maintain seamless operations. Scheduled overtime may be required based on operational demand.

Your Day to Day as a Front-Line Manager

Operational Leadership & Team Management
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop union hourly skilled trades employees in fitting, welding, assembly, stress-relief, lifting/handling, and related fabrication processes.
  • Manage the daily activities of multiple production teams, ensuring alignment with schedule, quality, and safety requirements.
  • Provide leadership continuity across shifts by establishing production plans, coordinating work execution, and preparing downstream teams for successful follow-through.

Production Planning & Execution
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate activities across multiple buildings, work centers, and product lines to meet production goals.
  • Oversee manual, automatic, and robotic welding operations, ensuring adherence to specifications, procedures, and process controls.
  • Manage high-complexity component flows, ensuring clarity, communication, and coordination of technical requirements and change impacts.

Data Management & Systems Use
  • Input, analyze, and manage data relating to labor time, production schedules, and workflow management within applicable computer systems.
  • Utilize established technology, processes, and precedents to make autonomous operational decisions and solve problems with limited precedent.

Continuous Improvement & Problem Solving
  • Evaluate existing operations and recommend improvements to shop efficiency, workflow design, resource utilization, safety, and cost control.
  • Apply technical experience and judgment to identify and resolve complex production issues, leveraging broad understanding of fabrication processes and procedures.
  • Support implementation of process improvements, new technologies, and updated standards across multiple teams.

Flexibility & Availability
  • Flex between shifts and work areas based on project needs, staffing requirements, or emergent operations.
  • Work scheduled overtime as required to maintain production continuity and meet customer commitments.

Required Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.
Typically a minimum of 5 years of suervisory experience in fabrication, welding, or a closely related heavy manufacturing environment.
Proven experience supervising unionized skilled trades in a complex production setting.
Strong background in welding, fitting, heavy fabrication, and multi-team coordination.
Ability to work autonomously within established practices, exercising sound judgment to resolve problems with limited precedent.
Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with G&M Codes, MS Office, SharePoint, Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing, and overhead cranes a plus.
Bachelor's degree is a plus.

Pay: $79,000 - $119,000

The base salary range for this position in Ohio (US-OH) at the start of employment is expected to be between $79,000 and $119,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,' unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
