Full Job Description
Openings are available across Expansion, Pipeline, Compression - Mechanical Design and Compression - Electrical Design groups.
Provide leadership and design support for engineering and operations projects involving pipeline facilities, including meter stations, compressor stations, and pipelines. Supervise design team to produce accurate, high-quality engineering drawings and models that support project execution. Ensure standards, schedules, and quality expectations align with engineering, project management, and construction requirements.
Responsibilities
• Supervise daily activities of engineering designers; assign work and balance workloads.
• Review drawings and models for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company and industry standards.
• Establish and enforce CAD standards, templates, and best practices.
• Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and field teams to clarify design requirements and resolve issues.
• Monitor project schedules and ensure timely delivery of design packages.
• Support development of 2D/3D models, layouts, and detailed drawings (e.g., mechanical, piping, structural, civil, or electrical as applicable).
• Implement and maintain document control and revision management processes.
• Identify and drive process improvements.
• Train, mentor, and develop team members; conduct performance reviews.
• Manage external design resources and contractors when applicable.
Qualifications
• Associate's degree in engineering, drafting technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5 years of CAD/design experience; including lead role experience.
• Strong understanding of engineering design principles and drawing standards.
• Experience supporting capital projects or infrastructure/industrial projects.
• Knowledge of document control systems and project workflows.
• Sound judgment in problem-solving and decision-making, with the ability to act appropriately and independently.
• Demonstrated ability to perform a wide range of highly skilled drafting and design projects.
• Ability to direct the work of assigned personnel.
• Extensive working knowledge of AutoCAD, CAD Overlay, and related discipline-specific applications.
• Strong knowledge of engineering and operations codes, standards, and procedures, including DOT, FERC, OSHA, and NNG requirements.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and the Windows environment.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, shifting priorities, and demanding deadlines.
• Ability to travel periodically to operations, technical office facilities, or other sites as needed.
• In-depth knowledge of the gas pipeline industry and NNG systems is preferred but not required.
