CORE JOB SUMMARY
The Supervisor, Cytogenetics provides operational, technical, and people leadership for the cytogenetics laboratory. This role ensures quality, compliance, staff development, and efficient laboratory operations in accordance with regulatory and institutional standards.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Supervises daily laboratory operations, staffing, and workflow activities.

2. Provides leadership, training, performance management, and professional development for staff.

3. Ensures compliance with regulatory, accreditation, safety, and quality requirements.

4. Oversees quality control, quality assurance, and corrective action processes.

5. Develops, reviews, and approves laboratory procedures and SOPs.

6. Monitors laboratory turnaround times and operational performance metrics.

7. Oversees equipment maintenance schedules and performance monitoring.

8. Maintains appropriate inventory levels and resource utilization.

9. Coordinates laboratory participation in inspections, audits, CAP surveys, and proficiency testing.

10. Performs cytogenetic testing as needed to support operational demands.

11. Communicates significant operational or clinical issues to laboratory leadership.

12. Conducts or oversees employee performance evaluations and competency assessments.

13. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
