Now Hiring: Supervisor, Communications

Job Posting:#26-70Status:Permanent, Full-timePosting Closes:August 24, 2026 at 4:00 p.m.Schedule: 35 hours/week (7 hours/day)
Reporting to the Director, Communications & Customer Service, the Supervisor, Communications leads the development, implementation and evaluation of communication and public engagement strategies for Parkland County. This position develops, implements and monitors Parkland County's communications efforts and supervises Communication Services staff. Operationally, this position will also be required to oversee Communications Services in providing support to internal departments, including communications planning and implementation, strategic management of emergent issues, coordination of communications initiatives and production of communication materials, tools and resources.

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following:
  • Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in Communications, Public Relations or a related field.
  • International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), or the Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS) preferred.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of communications experience with a minimum of three (3) years of direct experience in the public sector.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, public speaking and media relations skills, Diplomacy and tact in dealing with sensitive and potentially provocative situations and/or information.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills and proficiency in computer applications (MS Office, print-related applications).
  • Experience directly supervising and providing guidance to staff with varying levels of expertise.
Requirements:
  • Ability to primarily work in-person at Parkland County Centre - 53109A HWY 779, Parkland County, AB.
  • A valid class 5 driver's license and current, satisfactory driver's abstract provided upon hire.
  • A satisfactory Criminal Record Check is required upon hire, excluding candidates under the age of 18 and current Parkland County employees.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
