Join Our Team as a Supervisor - Assembly (Afternoon Shift)

Work arrangement: Onsite (Afternoon Shift - Monday - Thursday; 4:00 pm - 2:00 am)

Compensation

At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members and are committed to transparency in our pay practices. The estimated annual base salary range for this position is $87990 - $116578.8. Individual pay within this salary range is determined by several compensable factors, including performance, knowledge, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

This position may also be eligible for S&C's annual incentive plan (AIP). AIP amounts are variable and are dependent on both company and individual performance, subject to eligibility criteria. The target bonus percentage for this role is 10% of annual base earnings.

The Supervisor Assembly - Afternoon Shift will work closely with the department manager ] assistant manager to oversee the daily activities necessary to achieve our Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC). They will supervise a team consisting of hourly team members and will typically have responsibility for multiple shifts. They provide day-to-day work direction for the team, focused on maintaining steady workflow and productivity and resolving operational decisions. The supervisor will promote a safety culture; taking all reasonable precautions to protect team members from illness or injury.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of machine operators, and mechanical and electrical assemblers on the Metal Enclosed Switchgear assembly to meet quality standards.
  • Work closely with engineers, supply chain, and other supervisors of the area to achieve objectives
  • Provide a safe workspace and assign safe work; tell team members about job hazards, train team members to do their job safely, ensure team members work safely, and use equipment and protective devices properly where required. Conduct safety talks with team members and provide HSE feedback to the department.
  • Provide day-to-day work direction for the team, focused on maintaining steady workflow and productivity and resolving operational decisions.
  • Coordinate shift change-over meetings and perform daily administrative tasks.
  • Establish priorities and manage work schedules to meet delivery objectives and quality commitments.
  • Initiate and participate in LPS/CI initiatives; create and/or maintain meaningful visuals such as KPI boards.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives on current systems and processes to solve reoccurring issues and improve the effectiveness of the team.
  • Conduct regular Gemba walks with team leader(s) and/or other leadership team members.
  • Ensures positive team member relations by living our core values and promoting diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Initiate decisions related to hiring, promotions, performance, engagement, corrective action, dispute resolution, and terminations.
  • Approves time off, overtime, and other pay-related policies for team members according to policy and practices.
  • Identify training and skill development opportunities for team members to meet departmental needs.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Requirements are:
  • College diploma in industrial production, operations management, engineering, or related, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience in a lean manufacturing environment.
  • Prior supervisory or team lead experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of LPS including use of tools such as 5S, 4SPS, Kaizen, Gembas, etc.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing tools and equipment.
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and responsibilities as a supervisor.
  • Strong leadership skills within a manufacturing environment, with an ability to lead, guide, motivate, and delegate to deliver results.
  • Experience in scheduling, resource allocation, and priority planning toward deadlines.
  • An understanding of basic management approaches such as work scheduling, prioritizing, coaching, and process execution.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to read schematics and blueprints.
  • Proficient computer skills, including experience using Oracle HCM and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook), are a valuable asset.

Physical Effort:

Normal or frequent minor physical effort required for the day-to-day activity in the workplace. May involve standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs and lifting/moving/using objects or equipment up to 20lbs.

Acceptable working environment with minor or almost no disagreeable or challenging working conditions as part of everyday expected levels (all jobs will occasionally experience undesirable or disagreeable events).
