About the Opportunity

We have an opportunity for a Superintendent, Geology to join our team in Goldfield District Project in Goldfield, Nevada.

The Superintendent, Geology is responsible for leading the site geology team and ensuring the effective delivery of geological services supporting safe, efficient, and economically optimized open-pit mining and heap leach operations.

Reporting to the Manager, Technical Services, the Superintendent, Geology position provides leadership across ore control, grade control, geological interpretation, resource definition, mine-to-mill/heap leach reconciliation, geological modelling, and production support. The Superintendent works closely with the mining contractor, Engineering, Metallurgy, Processing, and Environmental teams to maximize ore recovery and ensure that material is mined, classified, and delivered to the appropriate processing destination.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead, coach, and develop the site geology team, including geologists, technicians, and other geological support personnel.
  • Establish and maintain effective grade control and ore control programs to support open-pit mining operations.
  • Oversee geological mapping, sampling, logging, interpretation, and quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) programs.
  • Provide geological guidance to ensure ore and waste boundaries are accurately defined and communicated to the mining contractor and Mine Engineering.
  • Manage short- and medium-term geological activities in alignment with mine plans and production requirements.
  • Support the development, maintenance, and reconciliation of geological and resource models.
  • Lead the investigation and resolution of mine-to-model and mine-to-leach reconciliation variances, identifying opportunities to improve ore forecasting and recovery.
  • Work closely with Mine Engineering and the mining contractor to optimize ore and waste movement, dig limits, stockpiles, and ore routing.
  • Provide geological input into blast planning, dig planning, stockpile management, and material classification.
  • Support resource definition and exploration activities where required, including drilling programs, geological interpretation, and resource modelling.
  • Ensure geological data is collected, managed, validated, and maintained to a high standard.
  • Collaborate with Metallurgy and Processing teams to understand ore characteristics, leach performance, recovery, and variability across the orebody.
  • Provide geological support for heap leach pad planning, ore placement, material characterization, and metallurgical performance as required.
  • Monitor and communicate geological risks that may impact mine production, ore quality, recovery, or economic performance.
  • Develop and maintain geological procedures, standards, and controls consistent with industry best practices.
About You

Our ideal candidate will possess the following skillset and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or a related discipline required.
  • Professional designation such as P.Geo. or equivalent designation preferred and considered an asset.
  • 7-10+ years of progressive geology experience,preferably within open-pit mining operations.
  • Demonstrated experience in open-pit mining, preferably within a heap leach operation.
  • Previous experience leading a geology team in a Superintendent, Senior Geologist, or equivalent site leadership role.
  • Strong practical experience with grade control, ore control, geological modelling, resource evaluation, and reconciliation.
  • Experience with open-pit mining methods and the integration of geology with mine planning and production.
  • Understanding of gold orebody geology, mineralization controls, and factors affecting heap leach performance.
  • Experience working with geological modelling and mine geology software such as Deswik, Vulcan, MineSight, or equivalent.
  • Strong experience with geological databases (acQuire or similar systems).
  • Strong understanding of QA/QC, sampling protocols, database management, and geological data integrity.
