RESPONSIBILITIES:

The position oversees staff responsible for remedial and preventative maintenance, testing, installation, and operation of NYCT's 24/7 mission-critical Fiber Optic OT Network Infrastructure. The incumbent will manage repair and maintenance programs, ensuring work is performed efficiently and in accordance with established standards. Additional responsibilities include directing the construction of circuits and maintaining comprehensive records, documentation, drawings, and management systems. The role provides technical oversight for capital projects and ensures operational requirements are fully supported. This position also requires regular coordination with vendors who provide network support services. During emergency situations and major failures, the incumbent will lead response efforts to ensure timely and effective corrective action. The incumbent also ensures all employees receive appropriate safety and technical training and promotes career development through a succession-planning approach designed to strengthen future leadership and technical capability.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Baccalaureate from an accredited college in Computer Science or a satisfactory equivalent.
• Eight (8) years of professional experience.
• Five (5) years of Managerial/Supervisory Experience.

DESIRED SKILLS:

• Familiarity with fiber networks (ASYNC/SONET) and knowledge of fiber optic cable testing and troubleshooting, network monitoring & fault identification, network protocols and topologies.
• Knowledge of high-speed fiber optic transmission technologies & equipment; NORTEL Legacy Fiber Transmission Equipment, CISCO, Fujitsu, etc.
• Command Center Environment experience, using NMA or other network monitoring tools and applications, including ticket generating applications.
• Fiber Transmission Equipment, Nortel Legacy, CISCO, Fujitsu, CIENA, ETHERWAN etc.
• Knowledge of Network Equipment DC Power Plants.
• Certifications in varied switch and router specializations I.e., CCNA, CCNP, Fujitsu MEF/Carrier Ethernet Certification
• Knowledge of NYCT safety rules and regulations, business practices and procedures.
• Experience working in a union environment; familiarity with agency's disciplinary process.
• Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal skills, project management, and PC skills including MS Office suite applications.

Final salary is determined experience, skillset, and alignment with compensation practices. The posted range reflects expected compensation and may be updated as market or business needs evolve.
