Superintendent, Contracts, Edmonton

Location and Reporting Structure

Reporting to the General Manager, Back River, this position will be based in Edmonton, AB.

Responsibilities
• Lead the Contracts Administrators and IIBA Compliance Officer, setting priorities, contracting procedures, governance standards, reporting and controls for consistent commercial administration.
• Direct pre-award contracting activities including strategy, scopes, bidder prequalification, tendering, commercial evaluation and risk analysis, negotiation, award recommendations and execution.
• Support Procurement in reviewing supplier T&C's, assessing contractual risks, and advising on required changes or mitigations.
• Oversee post-award administration and close-out, including contractual deliverables, commercial contractor performance, required data and reporting, amendments, changes, claims, disputes, payments, final accounts and records; Contract Owners retain responsibility for technical scope, operational performance and work acceptance.
• Ensure contracts and contractor management comply with Inuit Impact Benefit Agreement (IIBA) contract requirements, including designated business-category obligations, Inuit business participation commitments, contractual clauses, tracking and reporting.
• Review contract terms, pricing, risk allocation and compliance with corporate policies and delegated authorities, and coordinate with Legal and relevant stakeholders on legal, regulatory and HSE requirements, material risks and mitigation.
• Monitor commitments and expenditures, maintain SAP records, support Contract Owners with accrual and forecast data, and maintain commercial controls and reporting; coordinate with the Procurement Manager to maintain clear accountability between contracting and procurement activities.

Desired Competencies and Requirements
• Seven (7) years of progressive contracts management experience, including at least five (5) years in mining and leadership across operating and/or construction environments.
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Commerce, Economics, Engineering or a related discipline.
• Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP), Certified Professional Contract Manager (CPCM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) professional designation is an asset.
• Advanced demonstrated knowledge of contract law, commercial risk allocation, tendering, negotiation, change and claims management, mining services, construction and commercial contracting, SAP ERP or comparable systems, and Microsoft 365/SharePoint; remote-jurisdiction experience is an asset.

Compensation and Benefits

For informational purposes, the annual salary for this role is $159,500.00
