Position Summary

The General Superintendent is responsible for the overall field execution of construction, maintenance, and outage activities at Millstone Nuclear Power Station. This role provides leadership and direction to superintendents, foremen, subcontractors, and craft personnel while ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in compliance with all client, regulatory, and quality requirements.

The General Superintendent serves as the primary field leader and works closely with the Project Manager, client representatives, safety professionals, and project support staff to successfully deliver complex industrial and nuclear projects.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Lead all field construction, maintenance, and outage activities at Millstone Nuclear Power Station.
  • Direct and mentor Superintendents, Foremen, and craft personnel to ensure safe and productive work execution.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee daily construction operations to meet project schedules and client expectations.
  • Ensure all work complies with nuclear, OSHA, company, and client safety requirements.
  • Coordinate workforce planning, manpower utilization, and subcontractor activities.
  • Conduct daily planning meetings, toolbox talks, and coordination meetings with project leadership.
  • Review construction schedules and proactively identify and resolve potential delays.
  • Monitor project productivity, labor performance, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure quality standards, work packages, and construction specifications are followed.
  • Coordinate equipment, materials, tools, and subcontractor resources to support project execution.
  • Partner with Project Controls and Project Management to monitor progress, budgets, and schedule performance.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement throughout the project.
  • Support outage planning, startup activities, and project closeout.
  • Review and approve daily reports, manpower reports, and field documentation.
  • Interface directly with client representatives regarding field operations and project progress.
  • Assist in resolving field issues, conflicts, and technical challenges.
  • Participate in incident investigations and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements, company policies, and applicable labor requirements.
  • Mentor and develop field leadership personnel to strengthen organizational capability.
Qualifications
Required
  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of industrial construction experience, including 5 years in a Superintendent or General Superintendent leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience leading large industrial construction, maintenance, or outage projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, planning, scheduling, and workforce management.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and work packages.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and construction reporting systems.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Preferred
  • Previous experience supporting nuclear power plant projects.
  • Experience with major maintenance outages and capital projects.
  • Knowledge of nuclear quality assurance, work control processes, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience leading union craft labor and subcontractors.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Experience with project management platforms such as Procore, Primavera P6, or similar systems.

  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toe boots, hearing protection, and fall protection as required.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and inside industrial facilities.
Work Environment
  • Full-time position based at Millstone Nuclear Power Station in Waterford, Connecticut.
  • Primarily field-based with regular interaction in construction and outage environments.
  • Extended work hours, weekends, holidays, and overtime may be required during outages and critical project phases.
