Big Sandy Independent School District is seeking an experienced, student-centered educational leader to serve as Superintendent of Schools. The Superintendent will serve as the district's chief executive officer and will work closely with the Board of Trustees, staff, students, families, and community to provide strong leadership and advance the district's mission and vision. Position Overview The Superintendent is responsible for the overall leadership, administration, and operation of Big Sandy ISD and serves as the primary educational and executive leader of the district. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Board of Trustees to implement Board goals and policies, support high-quality instruction, maintain sound fiscal and operational practices, develop and retain outstanding staff, and strengthen relationships with students, families, staff, and the community. Required Qualifications Must hold a valid Texas Superintendent Certificate issued by the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC). Master's degree from an accredited institution. Valid Texas administrator certification. Demonstrated successful experience in educational leadership. Strong knowledge of Texas public school administration, accountability, curriculum and instruction, school finance, personnel, and applicable state and federal laws and regulations. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a Board of Trustees, employees, parents, students, and community members. Strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills. Commitment to ethical leadership, transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement. Preferred Qualifications Successful experience serving as a Superintendent of Schools. Experience as a central-office administrator, principal, or other senior campus/district leadership position. Demonstrated success improving student outcomes and organizational performance. Experience with school district budgeting, facilities, human resources, and long-range planning. Experience building strong relationships with staff, families, community organizations, and other stakeholders. Knowledge and experience with Texas school district accountability systems and requirements.
