Halker Consulting is seeking a technically credible Substation Engineering Manager to lead a portion of our electrical engineering team supporting utility and power-delivery projects. This is a high-impact opportunity for an experienced substation engineer who is already leading project teams - or an established manager - and wants a broader platform to influence execution, people, and growth.

You will be the go-to technical resource in at least one core substation discipline, bring practical perspective to active work, and help create the conditions for excellent project delivery. We are especially interested in candidates with deep expertise in Substation Physical Design or Protection and Controls (P&C).
What You Will Do

• Lead and develop a portion of Halker's electrical engineering team across substation and power-delivery work.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in Substation Physical Design, Protection and Controls, or Comms/SCADA, with strongest current need in Physical Design or P&C.
• Guide technical execution, design quality, engineering review, schedules, budgets, resource planning, and compliance for utility substation projects.
• Evaluate active projects and team capacity; identify practical opportunities to improve workflow, execution, and the support engineers need to succeed.
• Partner with project managers, design leaders, renewables leaders, clients, and internal stakeholders to coordinate work and deliver high-quality solutions.
• Build trusted client relationships and contribute technical perspective to growth, business-development, and market-strategy conversations.
• Mentor engineers, strengthen collaboration across specialties, and create a team environment where people can ask questions, cross-check work, and grow.

What You Bring

• 10+ years of progressive electrical engineering experience in utility substation, power delivery, or power distribution environments.
• Demonstrated subject matter expertise in Substation Physical Design and/or Protection and Controls. Experience with communications, SCADA, RTUs, PLCs, or related systems is valuable.
• Experience leading projects, coordinating engineering teams, guiding technical decisions, or managing engineers. Direct people management is welcome but not required for a candidate with clear leadership readiness.
• Strong knowledge of substation configurations, system protection, power-system analysis, and utility project delivery. Exposure to renewable generation, interconnection, or renewable project development is a plus.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline. Professional Engineer (PE) license is strongly preferred, particularly for consulting-engineering backgrounds.
• A collaborative, grounded leadership style. You bring confidence and technical authority without creating an ego-driven environment.

Compensation and Benefits

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $150,000 to $190,000, based on relevant experience, technical depth, leadership scope, and geographic considerations. Halker offers medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) match, and a flexible working environment.
