We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Substation Engineering Lead to join our team at K&A Power Group in Pleasanton, CA. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting and challenging projects that make a real impact in the energy and utility sectors. Role Expectations:

The Substation Engineering Lead will perform but are not limited to the following duties:
  • Overseeing design of multiple Electrical Substations projects - Includes both execution/detailed design projects and project development/scoping. Specifically, substation Design including the creation of substation construction drawing packages, engineering calculations, and developing bill of materials to meet client project scopes & demands (Roughly 50% of time)
  • Perform QAQC on substation design packages including general arrangement/physical and electrical layout, electrical equipment plans, elevation & section views, below grade drawings & details, one-line diagrams, schematics, and wiring packages. (Roughly 10% of time)
  • Support development of engineering resources both local and international through overseeing project work (Roughly 10% of time)
  • Manage engineering team including bi-weekly one on ones, timesheet reviews, process guidance, performance reviews, etc. (Roughly 10% of time)
  • Coordinate project work with K&A project manager, client project teams, engineering management & junior engineers. (roughly 5 % of time)
  • Maintain and develop client relationship through execution of project work. Including communicating project status, project updates, & design questions/issues with client partners (Roughly 5%)
  • Attend on-site meetings as required to support project progression, development projects, and RFPs. (Roughly 5% of time)
  • Assemble proposals & cost estimates for new substation design projects (Roughly 5% of time)


What we're looking for:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from an accredited university
  • 15+ Years of professional experience within substation design for electrical utilities
  • Past project experience working with PG&E on bidding, scoping, and executing engineering consulting projects.
  • Proven experience in Substation Design for both Physical electrical and Protection and Control packages with a fundamental understanding of all parallel interfaces including civil/structural, testing and commissioning, construction, etc.
  • PE license preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Experience working with AutoCAD, Microstation, Bluebeam, WinIGS are preferred


Pay Range $180,000-$230,000
