About The Role

The UUPS Construction Manager leads field execution for complex distribution and transmission electrical and utility projects across an assigned territory. This opportunity is well suited for a hands-on construction leader who excels in fast-paced environments, builds trusted relationships with customers and contractors, and is committed to safe, high-quality project delivery.

Onsite in Lake Charles, LA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead complex substation and transmission projects, including greenfield and brownfield work, from field execution through closeout.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with customer, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee daily construction and maintenance activities to ensure safe, efficient, high-quality execution.
  • Interpret contract requirements and apply them effectively in the field.
  • Identify project issues early and communicate risks related to safety, schedule, design, materials, budget, and commissioning.
  • Review drawings and construction documents for constructability, scope alignment, and schedule readiness.
  • Track material needs, resolve shortages, and coordinate deliveries to support uninterrupted field operations.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide field leadership to keep teams aligned on priorities and progress.
  • Provide clear field updates on safety, schedule, project status, and emerging risks.
  • Coordinate on-site contractor activities to maintain productivity, quality, and schedule performance.
  • Support commissioning planning and execution as needed to ensure successful project startup.
  • Complete contractor evaluations, project reconciliation, and closeout activities with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Build strong customer relationships and serve as a professional field representative throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide field support during critical construction phases, including occasional extended hours when required.
  • Anticipate project risks and recommend practical solutions to support successful execution.

Key Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required, along with 10-15 years of experience in substation electrical or utility construction, including at least 2 years leading construction crews.
  • Understanding of data centers and utility supply-and-demand trends.
  • Knowledge of applicable safety codes, regulations, and construction standards.
  • Experience working on EPC projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of construction means, methods, and field procedures.
  • Knowledge of power systems and energy delivery infrastructure.
  • Comfortable using technology and job-related digital tools.
  • Ability to support emergency restoration efforts when needed.
  • Ability to work at remote job sites and navigate uneven terrain and rights-of-way.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex construction issues and support incident investigations.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Experience working with Entergy projects.
