Job OverviewThe SME 5 will provide high-level subject matter expertise to the US Navy (USN) U.S. Coast Guard (USCG), and other customers requiring cradle-to-grave Command, Control, Communications, Computer, Cyber-defense, and Information Technology (C5IT) systems both, shore-based and shipboard.
Salary: $150,000.00- $165,000.00/Yr ResponsibilitiesEssential Job Duties:- Provide day-to-day C5IT support on USN ships, USCG ships, and shore facilities to include site visits, engineering change development, installation planning, troubleshooting, installation oversight, system removal, training, and onsite maintenance support.
- Provide C5IT support for multiple systems, including how the systems operate and interface including physical connections, data interface, and system communications.
- Systems include but are not limited to:
- Sea Commander
- Shipboard External Communications Systems (EXCOMMS)
- Shipboard Internal Communications Systems (ICOMMS)
- External active sensors
- External passive sensors
- FLIR cameras and their supporting video systems
- Fixed and Pan Tilt Zoom (PTZ) cameras and their supporting video systems
- Navy Type Navy Owned (NTNO) systems
- MarCom Integrated Voice Communications System (IVCS)
- Navigation Sensors
- Radio Frequency Distribution System (RFDS)
- Maritime Communications Controller (MCC) system
- Satellite Antenna Systems
- RF Communications including HF, VHF, UHF, and SATCOM
- Firewalls/Switches/Routers
- Windows Servers, Virtual Machines, and Containers
- Linux Servers, Virtual Machines, and Containers
- Travel required to CONUS and OCONUS facilities including underway periods on USN and USCG operational units.
- Perform related work as assigned in an unsupervised, reactive, and mission critical environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
Key Responsibilities:- Knowledgeable in communications and networking system architecture, professional installation and integration methods such as wiring, cabling, functional rack layouts and other methods of communication/legacy system implementation.
- Excellent oral communication skills include but are not limited to customer interactions, formal and informal training, and meeting facilitation.
- Excellent written communications including but not limited to development and editing of business and technical documents, engineering changes, meeting and trip reports, Time Compliant Technical Orders, training material, and after-action reports.
- Ability to deal with people in a professional and courteous manner.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment.
- Ability to organize and prioritize own work as well as assigned personnel.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to research and analyze technical data.
Job RequirementsMandatory:- US Citizen
- SECRET clearance or higher.
- Valid US Passport
- 20 or more years' experience in U.S. Navy and/or U.S. Coast Guard C5IT programs including Command and Control, Navigation, Sensors, Surface and Air Search Radars, RF Communications, SATCOM, Intelligence, and Shipboard Networks.
- Well versed in Microsoft Office and related business software.
- Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check and pre-hire drug screening.
Preferred:- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Management, or a related field or 15 years' experience.
- Three (3) years of supervisory experience.
Working Conditions:- Must be able to work long hours while at sea on USN ships or USCG Cutters.
Physical Requirements:- Must be able to go up and down shipboard ladders.
- Must be able to lift at least 50lbs.
