Summary:
Goldbelt Professional Services is seeking a Subject Matter Expert III to provide dentist infection control support to DHQP PRB.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
- Provide subject matter expertise as a dentist with infection prevention experience from dental settings to inform CDC recommendations for prevention of infection in dental and other healthcare-associated settings.
- Assist with development of CDC recommendation or guidance materials to promote dental infection control best practices and intervention strategies.
- Contribute to development of a CDC strategy for dental infection prevention with the greatest potential impact on relevant provider groups.
- Serve as subject matter point of contact and expert in development of educational efforts by CDC or CDC contractors.
- Serve as an SME to partners in collaborative dental infection control guidance development.
- Provide SME support to the Prevention and Response Branch on dental HAI prevention and recognition activities, including public inquiries.
- Inform and participate in dental studies related to prevention, recognition, and intervention strategies.
- Participate in relevant working groups discussing policy and procedure initiatives involving dental infection control.
- Work with partners to advance CDC HAI prevention efforts, including oral care best practices in healthcare settings.
- Participate in analytic projects and help guide data analysis and interpretation as an SME.
- Assist with reviewing, editing, and/or drafting up to two (2) articles and manuscripts for publication per year.
- Address gaps in dental outbreak response and create tools to improve response functions, disseminating tools to public health partners.
- Participate during CDC response activities and training exercises under direction of the DHQP Team Lead; duties include staffing the EOC desk to help support CDC's mission.
Qualifications
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
- Expertise in dental infection prevention and control practices, including sterilization, disinfection, environmental infection prevention, and instrument processing.
- In-depth knowledge of CDC dental infection-control guidance, OSHA requirements, state dental regulations, and other relevant infection-prevention standards and requirements.
- Ability to provide authoritative technical guidance to dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants, infection-prevention professionals, and other healthcare personnel.
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate complex infection-control issues and provide evidence-based recommendations.
- Strong knowledge of standard precautions, transmission-based precautions, hand hygiene, PPE, respiratory hygiene, sharps safety, injection safety, sterilization, and environmental cleaning as they apply to dental settings.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate technical and regulatory requirements into practical guidance for dental providers and organizations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from an accredited dental school.
- Current, unrestricted dental license.
- 7–10 years of progressively responsible dental/clinical experience, with significant experience in infection prevention and control.
- Ability to obtain and maintain CDC Public Trust Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 10+ years of dental or clinical experience, with substantial responsibility for infection prevention and control.
- Advanced training, certification, or formal education in infection prevention and control, healthcare epidemiology, public health, or a related discipline.
- Prior experience working with the CDC is highly desired to understand the culture and environment.
Pay and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $150,000 to $160,000 annually.
