Responsibilities

  • Provide subject matter expertise for undersea warfare programs, doctrine, tactical development, and experimentation.
  • Advise on coordination and direction for Plans and Policy Warfare Integration, including the Joint Undersea Submarine Warfare Concept.
  • Conduct analytical studies on doctrine, policies, and strategic plans impacting national deterrence and long-range military operations.
  • Offer guidance on maritime USW policies and TTPs to support Navy and Joint USW programs.
  • Recommend improvements in submarine equipment, operational tactics, training, and data collection.
  • Liaise between warfighting and technical communities, with occasional travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations.
Full Job Description
Valiant Integrated Services has an exciting opportunity for a Subject Matter Expert (SME) Analyst supporting the Undersea Warfighting Development Center (UWDC) in San Diego, CA. UWDC, under the direction of Commander, Submarine Forces (COMSUBFOR), leads undersea superiority and enables the combat lethality and desired effects generated from, and within, the Undersea Domain.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
  • Provide subject matter expertise (SME) advice and analysis for the undersea warfare (USW) program, doctrine, tactical development, and experimentation.
  • Provide SME advice and analysis for coordination and direction for activities of the Plans and Policy Warfare Integration within the U.S. Submarine Force, including Joint Undersea Submarine Warfare Concept (JUSWC).
  • Conduct analytical studies of doctrine, policies, and issues, which have a major impact on national deterrence policy in development/improvement of long-range plans such as mobilizations and deployments, and other similar operations or contingency plans.
  • Provide advice and conduct analysis with respect to maritime USW policy and TTPs supporting Navy and Joint USW programs and operational and tactical employment of delivery systems.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and advice to UWDC and the Submarine Forces.
  • Recommend improvements in submarine equipment, operations, sensing, operator and crew readiness training, tactics evolution, and data collection.
  • Liaise between warfighting and technical communities.
  • Travel approximately 5-10 occasions per year to CONUS and OCONUS locations.

EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree, advanced degree preferred, in a relevant field or equivalent experience.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Expertise in undersea warfighting (USW) policies, principles, tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs), equipment, and responsibilities across strategic, operational, and tactical levels of war.
  • Expertise in submarine operations, training, tactics, and current/future mission sets.
  • Three years of experience in development and execution of maritime USW plans.
  • Experience as a major command commander.
  • Expert knowledge of strategic planning theories, concepts, systems, and national security decision-making process.
  • Knowledge of current and emerging technologies supporting maritime USW operations.
  • Knowledge of Navy, Department of Defense (DoD), and joint doctrine, development, and organizational design and material development process to serve as subject matter expert and ensure thorough linkage with Joint Service and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) doctrine and TTP.
  • Ability to interface and communicate with internal and external stakeholders and customers to quickly ascertain requirements and cooperate to fulfill those requirements within existing technology and resource constraints.
  • Exceptional writing skills to develop executive-level correspondence at the Flag/Senior Executive Service (SES) level.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications including MS Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Sharepoint, Project, Access, and Visio.
  • Demonstrated superior attention to detail, coupled with a proven history of working issues with other staff members, understanding their requirements, and the ability to solve problems independently.
  • USA citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a passport and driver's license.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Physical requirements may include, but are not limited to, lifting, ascending, and descending stairs, climbing, extended sitting or standing, to various degrees.
