Full Job Description
Under general supervision of the, Manager, Study and Intern Abroad and in consultation with the Director of Global Study and the Faculty Director of Academic Programs, coordinate the overall administration of UC Davis faculty-led programs (e.g., Summer, Summer Internships Quarter, etc.), and/ or any other Global Learning Hub travel programs. Staff may be assigned to different program portfolios as determined by workloads and strategic planning. Develop and coordinate programs in collaboration with faculty, including work with international vendors and program providers, budget projections, contracts and payments review and submissions, facilitate/lead programs marketing and outreach, enrollment management, and health, safety and logistics planning and emergency response. Manage a comprehensive program of advising, information and guidance to students interested in study abroad and their families/caregivers. Support students' pre-departure and re-entry advising and reflection. #CA-AR

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
  • Professional experience in the field of international education, including working knowledge of institutional policies, risk management, cross-cultural concepts and principles of good practice with regard to academic programs abroad.
  • Experience using specialized counseling skills in a university environment to advise and inform individual students.
  • Experience developing and implementing student marketing and engagement strategies including evaluation of these strategies related to student recruitment.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of safety, security and health issues that affect students participating in study abroad programs.
  • Knowledge of theories, principles, objectives, policies and procedures related to advising and program development in the context of international education.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills (including public speaking and large presentations) to present information to diverse groups of students, parents, staff, faculty and administrators in a variety of settings.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with budgeting, prioritizing tasks, and executing contracts/projects within given deadlines.
  • Experience communicating and collaborating with local and international vendors.
  • Experience living, studying and/or working abroad.
  • Skills using computer systems including database management and web site maintenance.
  • Demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Knowledge about a wide variety countries and cultures.
  • Knowledge of the academic, cultural and development components of UC and non-UC study abroad programs in order to market and promote programs and to counsel students on appropriate study abroad options.
  • Familiarity with international political, social and cultural issues as they pertain to educational exchange.
  • Familiarity with regional and national study abroad networks and resources.
