About the Project:

The Eglinton Crosstown West Extension will bring the Eglinton Crosstown LRT another 9.2 kilometers farther west, creating a continuous rapid transit line from the east end of Toronto into Mississauga. The Stations, Rail, and Systems (SRS) package encompasses the design, construction, integration, and commissioning of key project components.

Position Overview:

The Structural Technical Coordinator supports the coordination, review, and delivery of structural design and construction activities across major rail transit infrastructure projects delivered by Trillium Rail Partners (TRP).

Working within a complex design-build / P3 environment, this role bridges design and construction by ensuring structural elements-across stations, tunnels, guideways, and ancillary facilities-are technically sound, fully coordinated, and aligned with project requirements, constructability considerations, and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Structural Design Coordination
  • Support the coordination and integration of structural design across multiple project components, including stations, tunnels, elevated guideways, and ancillary structures.
  • Assist with the review of structural drawings, calculations, specifications, and technical submittals.
  • Ensure alignment between structural design and architectural, mechanical, electrical, and civil interfaces.

Technical Review & Documentation
  • Assist in reviewing shop drawings, RFIs, method statements, and construction work plans related to structural works.
  • Track and coordinate technical queries, design changes, and outstanding issues.
  • Support document control processes to ensure accurate versioning and traceability of structural deliverables.

Construction Interface & Field Support
  • Work closely with construction teams to support implementation of structural design in the field.
  • Participate in constructability reviews, staging plans, and sequencing discussions.
  • Assist in resolving field issues, deficiencies, and non-conformances related to structural works.

Quality, Compliance & Standards
  • Support QA/QC processes, including inspections, testing, and compliance verification for structural elements.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable codes, standards, and project specifications.
  • Assist in monitoring structural performance requirements and design intent.

Interface & Stakeholder Coordination
  • Coordinate structural interfaces with multidisciplinary teams, including design consultants, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Support coordination with authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs) and third-party reviewers as required.
  • Ensure integration with systems, utilities, and adjacent infrastructure.

Commissioning & Handover Support
  • Assist with preparation of as-built documentation and structural records.
  • Support deficiency tracking and close-out activities.
  • Coordinate with downstream teams to support readiness for commissioning and operations.

Qualifications:

  • Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience supporting structural design or construction on large infrastructure, transit, or heavy civil projects.
  • Familiarity with structural systems including reinforced concrete, steel structures, and underground works.
  • Experience in design-build and/or P3 project environments is an asset.
  • Exposure to urban or complex construction environments is considered an asset.
  • Strong technical coordination and analytical skills.
  • Attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and quality.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder coordination abilities.
  • Proficiency with technical and coordination tools (e.g., MS Office, Bluebeam; BIM experience is an asset).
