Position Summary

Acuren is seeking a Structural Integrity Engineer in the Pacific region, to drive structural safety and integrity initiatives while strengthening our Engineering team.

 

Position Details

  • Location: Richmond, BC Office
  • Shift/Rotation: Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week.
  • Start Date: Immediately
  • Salary Range: Up to $85,000-$125,000/year, depending on experience and certifications.
Responsibilities

The candidate will use their structural engineering skills to review structures, design repairs, and prepare drawings. They will guide junior team members and ensure projects are on time, on budget, and meet client needs. The ideal candidate is proactive, client-focused, and passionate about delivering quality results.

Engineering experience and expertise:

  • Structural review, inspection and repair design of existing buildings and equipment including structural steel buildings, materials handling equipment, temporary work platforms, industrial equipment, and lifting equipment
  • Prepare and seal drawings for designs of temporary work platforms and their attachment to existing infrastructure/structures.
  • Follow construction safety guidelines
  • Monitor on-site construction processes and provide technical support for construction projects
  • Mentoring less experienced staff and providing technical support to the engineering team
  • Any additional area of expertise across mobile cranes/platforms annual certification, finite element stress and thermal analysis, condition assessment, and fitness for service assessment would be an asset.

Project management and client engagement:

  • Diligent management through all phases of a project lifecycle: initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closeout.
  • Proactively engaging with clients to build rapport, enhance relationships, and navigate difficult conversations.
  • Continually striving for process improvements including creating comprehensive reports and reports aligned to client needs, and identifying solutions to issues and developing recommendations for implementation

Requirements
  • A university degree in Structural, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (or immediately eligible) with the Engineers & Geoscientists of BC
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience including conveying systems, bulk loading and unloading equipment, buildings structural design, and structural support systems for process equipment.
  • Experience conducting inspections and repair designs for buildings, pressure equipment, tanks, piping, infrastructure at ports, marine terminals, and mines and for a range of bulk material handling equipment including ship loaders, ship unloaders, reclaimers, and rail car dumpers.
  • Experience with repair design for concrete, steel, and timber.
  • Demonstrated experience of successful project management and implementation of project management tools for tracking and communicating budgets, schedules, and deliverables.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines, maintaining a high-quality deliverables and clear and timely communication.
  • Must be familiar with AutoCAD, Solidworks and other CAD design and analysis software
  • Must be familiar with BCBC, NBCC, CSA S16, CSA S6, CSA W59 and other relevant design codes
  • Familiarity with common structural design software (e.g., SolidWorks Beam Analysis, S-Frame, SkyCiv, etc.)
  • Valid BC driver’s license
