Full Job Description
Moffatt & Nichol specializes in large complex waterfront infrastructure projects and is recognized as one of the worldwide leaders in this field. Our Anchorage office is actively searching for a Professional Engineer with focus in Marine Structural Engineering to lead and manage waterfront/marine engineering projects. As the successful new hire, you will have 10 or more years of related waterfront experience from conceptual layout through the design process. You will perform project management and design for waterfront structures and marine infrastructure projects, including projects involving LNG marine terminals, medium and large container terminals, liquid and solid bulk terminals, oil and gas terminals, offshore wind ports, and alike. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in LNG marine terminals, maritime structures design, container terminal engineering, operations analysis and simulation, technical and operational due diligence.

You will work with clients, perform project and task management, lead engineering, planning, design, mentor and train junior marine structural engineering staff, etc.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Project management and project engineer / technical lead role
  • Mentor and train junior structural engineering staff
  • Lead the development of contract documents for various project delivery methods including drawings, specifications, basis of design, technical reports, technical memorandums, cost estimates, quantity take-offs, project and construction schedules, etc.
  • Lead the development of structural analysis, modeling, capacity calculations and calculation reports
  • Attend and lead client meetings including development of meeting minutes
  • Build relationships with existing and new clients
  • Perform periodic site visits and attend client meetings as required
  • Participate in projects pursuits/opportunities including positioning, team building, proposal writing, interviewing and contract negotiation
  • Lead the implementation of quality control and quality assurance on projects
  • Coordinate closely with business managers and technical leaders in the company to advance initiatives
  • Coordinate with coastal, civil, transportation, mechanical, electrical, construction, inspection, permitting/environmental and other disciplines as required to deliver projects
  • Manage subconsultants and construction services throughout project lifecycles
  • Actively participate in initiatives to grow the team as required through hiring of interns and junior staff

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering; required
    • Master's in Structural or Civil Engineering; preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in waterfront/marine civil engineering; required
  • Professional Engineer licensure in Alaska or the ability to obtain via reciprocity within 6 months of hire; required
  • Academy of Coastal, Ocean, Port & Navigation Engineers (ACOPNE) certification in the Port Engineering category a plus
  • Possession of or eligibility to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC)
  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171
