Collins Aerospace is looking to hire a talented and technically skilled Structural Analysis Engineer to support both new and legacy aerospace products. Based at our Global Engineering & Technology Center in Puerto Rico (GETC-PR), you will perform structural analysis considering multiple failures modes using classical methods and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) on various propeller components, such as domes, yokes, hubs, bolted joints, and control housings, ensuring compliance with static and fatigue requirements. In this role, you will also analyze and design major components or portions of functional systems, advanced prototypes, and specific aerospace products using cutting-edge computational tools. Additionally, you will support thermal and dynamic analyses to develop innovative and reliable aerospace solutions.
This position will sit at our Aguadilla, PR location. You must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment. Relocation is not offered.
This role is categorized as hybrid, with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote following the schedule assigned by the Manager.
What YOU will do:
- Conduct trade studies to evaluate initial sizing, component and system stiffness for different design alternatives and to optimize system performance.
- Prepare high-quality, detailed stress reports for customer reviews and Material Review Board (MRB) support.
- Review engineering drawings with cross-functional teams, providing structural analysis insights and recommendations.
- Analyze structural repairs for propeller and other system components, ensuring compliance with engineering methodologies and standards.
- Perform damage tolerance for product development and certification, using NASGRO and other tools and methods.
- Develop and document analysis findings to define design requirements and in-service operational limits, supported by testing, service data, and engineering judgment.
- Generate comprehensive engineering reports summarizing analysis and test results.
- Participate in internal and external product design reviews, collaborating with global cross-functional teams.
- Provide technical support throughout the product lifecycle, including preliminary design, development, validation, certification, and operational service.
- Communicate findings and deliver presentations to internal and external stakeholders, including maintainers, suppliers, customers, and aircraft operators.
- Support field investigations and provide recommendations for structural repairs, requiring occasional domestic and international travel.
What YOU will learn:
- You will learn about our growing engineering team in Puerto Rico; What we do? Who we support? How we work?
- You will learn the technologies of today and tomorrow which we count on to maintain world leadership in the aerospace industry.
- You will learn why people enjoy and feel fulfilled by working in our industry.
Qualifications you must have:
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 2 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field.

Qualifications We Prefer:
- Experience in aerospace, defense, or related industries.
- 1+ year of structural analysis experience with MSC Software (e.g., Nastran/Patran), NX Nastran, or equivalent FEA software packages.
- 1+ year of design and analysis experience of aerospace structural components.
- Experience with Siemens NX/Unigraphics or similar CAD software.
- Experience with stress-life fatigue analysis.
- Experience with analysis of bolted joints.
- Advanced experience with non-linear FEA models, including assembly models with contact, plasticity, and large deformation. Modal and dynamic response analysis is a plus.
- Experience with Damage Tolerance Analysis (e.g., NASGRO) is a plus.
- Proficiency in one or more computer programming languages (e.g., MATLAB, Python, Fortran); Fortran experience is a plus.
- Experience in Thermal Sciences is a plus.
