Full Job Description
The Structural Engineer II would be called upon to analyze metallic, reinforced concrete and soil-subgrade supported structures. The analyses may support engineering and licensing requirements, leading to the licensing and construction of SMR-300 plants across the globe. The engineer will use and learn various methods and software to perform the analyses.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Execute and document analyses for a variety of structures, systems and components (SSCs)
  • Review available concept designs based on an ambiguous set of requirements, then develop them into mature designs by critical thinking, literature research, interacting with members from other disciplines and vendors, and any analyses as permitted by project milestones
  • Support the preparation of design deliverables, presentations, and communicate design progress in stakeholder meetings
  • Support development of engineering and licensing requirements and documentation for nuclear SSCs
  • Static and dynamic finite element analyses (FEA) using ANSYS
  • Drop and impact (e.g., missile and aircraft) analyses and target response using LS-DYNA
  • Simulation of the seismic response of freestanding structures in air or submerged in water
  • Static and dynamic analyses of large reinforced concrete or steel-concrete composite structures
  • Soil-structure interaction (SSI) and fluid-structure interaction (FSI) analyses
  • Beam and plate stress calculations using established principles of strength of materials

Requirements:
  • Applicant must possess a BS in Mechanical/Civil/Structural Engineering with a minimum of 6 years of experience. MS will count for 2 years of experience and Ph.D. will count for 4 years of experience (experience from MS and Ph.D.cannot be combined)

  • Must possess excellent credentials in principles of solid mechanics
  • Must possess excellent technical writing and communication skills
  • Industrial experience in the latest stress analysis codes such as ANSYS, LS-DYNA, and STAAD.Pro (preferred)
  • Prior nuclear industry experience including interactions with NRC or other regulatory authorities (preferred)
  • Experience in seismic and stress analysis of pressure vessels and rotating equipment (preferred)
  • Experience in modular design development of SSCs (preferred)

Compensation:
  • Annual compensation based on skills and experience ranging from $105,000-$125,000
  • Additional compensation earned through incentive structure

Benefits:
  • Industry-leading medical, dental, and vision coverage with a generous employer premium contribution and Day 1 eligibility!
