The Opportunity:Tetra Tech is adding an Entry-Level Structural Engineer I to our Structural Engineering team. This opportunity is remote and/or hybrid-friendly and can be performed from a wide range of locations across the U.S.
Position Summary:Tetra Tech's High-Performance Building division is currently seeking a full-time Entry-Level Structural Engineer I to join our team. This position offers an early-career engineer an opportunity to develop technical expertise while supporting structural engineering projects across a variety of building types and industry sectors.
The successful candidate will work alongside experienced structural engineers and multidisciplinary project teams to support structural analysis, design, modeling, documentation, and field activities. The role will provide hands-on experience in structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and foundation systems, while developing proficiency in Revit, structural analysis software, applicable building codes, and industry design standards.

- Assist in developing and revising structural Revit models, drawings, and details for structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and foundation systems based on engineering calculations, project requirements, and guidance from senior engineers.
- Perform basic structural analysis and design calculations under the guidance of senior structural engineers, including gravity framing, foundations, and components of lateral force-resisting systems in accordance with applicable building codes and design standards.
- Develop and maintain structural analysis models and support engineering calculations using software such as RISA-3D, Enercalc, and other structural design and analysis tools.
- Incorporate engineering markups, design revisions, and project changes into structural models, drawings, calculations, and related project documentation.
- Support multidisciplinary project coordination and assist in identifying and resolving structural conflicts with architectural, mechanical, electrical, and other building systems.
- Assist with field investigations of existing structures by documenting existing conditions, gathering field information, and supporting evaluations of structural systems and proposed modifications.
- Support preparation of structural calculations, design narratives, specifications, construction documents, and construction administration activities, including review of structural submittals, RFIs, and field conditions under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Apply company drafting standards, BIM practices, project requirements, and applicable structural codes and standards while participating in technical training and professional development to expand structural engineering, analysis, design, Revit, and engineering software capabilities.
Required Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university, with an emphasis in structural engineering.
- 0+ years of relevant structural engineering experience.
- Academic or professional experience applying fundamental structural engineering principles, including structural analysis and design.
- Academic or professional experience with structural steel and reinforced concrete design.
- Familiarity with Revit through academic coursework, internships, co-op programs, or professional experience.
- Ability to prepare and interpret engineering calculations, structural drawings, plans, and technical documentation.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and ability to coordinate technical assignments with engineering and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Ability to manage assigned tasks and meet established project schedules and deadlines with guidance from senior team members.
- A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required for this position.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
Preferred Qualifications:- Internship or co-op experience supporting building structural design projects.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain EIT certification within 12 months of hire.
- Academic or professional exposure to masonry and foundation design.
- Experience with structural analysis and design software such as RISA-3D, Enercalc, or similar engineering tools.
- Experience with Revit structural modeling and detailing through coursework, internships, co-op assignments, or professional experience.
- Familiarity with structural building codes, design standards, BIM practices, and multidisciplinary building design coordination.

Physical Requirements:- Regularly required to sit and work at a computer for extended periods while preparing drawings and project documentation.
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout office or project site environments.
- Occasionally required to lift and/or move materials, equipment, or documents weighing up to 10 pounds; infrequent lifting of up to 25 pounds may be required.
- Requires the use of hands and fingers for operating a computer, drafting software, and standard office equipment.

Additional Information:- Typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

- The anticipated salary range for this position is $75,000 to $95,000 annually. Actual compensation may vary based on geographic location, education, experience, professional licensure, technical expertise, and other job-related factors.
