GFT is seeking a Structural Engineer to join our Practice or CBG Team! This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Mississauga or Toronto office.

What you’ll be challenged to do:

 

Successful candidates, working under supervision will; assist senior engineers by performing inspection, condition assessment, rehabilitation and structural design of bridges, culverts, retaining walls and transportation related facilities.  Work includes steel and concrete design, AutoCAD, and use of structural programs such as CSI Bridge and SAP 2000. Performs structural design calculations for concrete and steel structures and  develops structural drawings using AutoCAD and MicroStation.

 

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following: 

  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with various disciplines.
  • Coordinates structural design with project requirements.
  • Design of concrete and steel members such as slabs, footings, columns and beams
  • Develop structural details
  • Review structural shop drawings
  • Assists with other duties assigned by Discipline Lead Engineers and/or Project Managers.
  • Lead structural design for small scale projects.
  • Attend seminars to broaden exposure and remain current on the industry
What you will bring to our firm: 
  • Bachelors Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering  is required.
  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD
  • 5 years of relevant full-time work experience.
  • Hands on experience with structural analysis and design software
  • Proficiency with MS Office software (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Be capable of field inspection activity such as climbing ladders, using man lifts.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code and MTO Structural Manual. 
  What we prefer you bring: 
  • P.Eng license. 
  • Experience with local clients. 
Compensation: The salary range for this role is $86,000.00 - $125,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.  Featured Benefits:
