Structural Discipline Leader – St. Paul, MN

As our Structural Discipline Leader, you will serve as the primary technical authority for structural engineering services in the Saint Paul office. You will manage the engineering lifecycle of a variety of industrial and commercial projects from concept through construction. The Structural Discipline Leader will be responsible for growing and developing a team based in Saint Paul as well as promoting structural engineering services throughout NV5.  This role balances technical mastery, project management, and people leadership in a highly collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Authority: Review and approve complex calculations, blueprints, and legal plans.
• Quality Assurance: Enforce strict QA/QC rules to ensure designs are safe and compliant with building codes.
• Team Leadership: Hire, train, and mentor junior and mid-level structural engineers.
• Project Management: Oversee project budgets, delivery schedules, and client communications.
• Cross-Team Collaboration: Coordinate design work seamlessly with architects and other engineering disciplines.
• Field Representation: Attend project sites and client meetings to manage expectations and ensure project success.
• Business Development Support: Seller-Doer Model
• Promote the service line throughout NV5.
• Grow NV5’s structural engineering services in the Midwest through client facing meetings, networking, and marketing.
• Lead the proposal effort for Structural Engineering services in the Midwest.  Provide budget estimates and technical scope narratives for incoming proposals.

Required Qualifications

• Education: B.S. in Civil or Structural Engineering (M.S. preferred).
• Licensure: Active Professional Engineering (PE) license in the state of Minnesota.
• Experience: 10+ years of relevant structural engineering design experience (Concrete, Steel, Masonry, Wood).
• Software Mastery: Proficiency in ETABS, RISA, RAM Structural System, RAM Elements, RAM Concept, Enercalc, and Excel.
• Revit: Experience with modeling and producing high-quality construction drawings is a plus.

The salary range for this position is $165,000 - $195,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
