Your Key Responsibilities- You are expected to understand and work according to the requirements of the Stantec Safety Culture and in compliance with all Health and Safety rules and regulations for Stantec and its clients.
- Perform modeling, drafting and structural design tasks for a wide variety of projects.
- Complete project deliverables on budget and schedule.
- Work collaboratively with engineers, designers, and project teams to produce quality design deliverables with the appropriate level of detail.
- Support projects involving hydroelectric generating stations, dams, spillways, intake structures, navigation locks, marine facilities, dry docks, shipyard infrastructure, waterfront structures, and other heavy civil infrastructure.
- Work with Engineers and Junior Designers on fit-for-purpose designs that meet the client's needs and requests.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to designers as part of their professional development, while taking an active role in your own career development.
- Conduct quality assurance and quality control on own projects within Stantec's quality control guidelines.
- Attend project coordination meetings with internal team members.
- Travel to local project sites as needed.
QualificationsYour Capabilities and Credentials- Demonstrated experience supporting projects within one or more of the following sectors:
- Hydropower and water resources
- Dams and spillways
- Navigation and lock structures
- Naval facilities and shipyards
- Dry docks and waterfront infrastructure
- Industrial or power generation facilities
- Proficiency in design tools such as Revit and AutoCAD, or similar platforms.
- Ability to develop Revit content such as custom families and managing parameters.
- Knowledge in utilizing and understanding CAD/BIM tools such as Autodesk Recap, Civil 3D, Navisworks, ACC/Forma, Inventor (preferred) and workflows with Reality Capture (point cloud data) and GIS.
- Proficiency in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- A strong understanding of design concepts, with an emphasis on structural design.
- A strong sense of teamwork, especially in remote collaborative environments. Desire to lead projects and coach or mentor other team members..
Education and Experience- Graduate of Technical or College Course in Design/Drafting, or the ability to demonstrate sufficient knowledge received from previous experience in a similar position.
- 6 to 12 years of experience in engineering consulting or the construction industry.
- At least 6 years of experience in the industrial consulting industry or an industrial environment.
- Experience supporting hydropower, dams, navigation structures, marine infrastructure, naval facilities, shipyards, or waterfront projects is strongly preferred.
