Structural Bridge Engineer

Your Opportunity

Our Bridge team is looking for a Structural Bridge Engineer in our Albany and Rochester NY offices. The successful candidate will become part of an exciting and dynamic structural group and will have opportunities to contribute to projects in New York State as well as large projects throughout North America.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee design and preparation of contract documents for new bridges and rehabilitation of existing bridges
  • Perform load rating analysis of existing bridges
  • Perform design calculations, drawings, and details for various bridge design projects
  • Mentor and monitor junior structural engineers
  • Review shop drawings produced by fabricators and detailers, calculations performed by other engineers, coordinate with design team, site visits to address site issues and verify existing conditions, and respond to request for information
  • Assist with the management and administration of projects, including budget tracking, developing staffing requirements, coordinating quality reviews, and assuring compliance with Health, Safety, Security and Environment fundamentals
  • Coordinate with clients as required to ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Licensed Professional Engineer with license in the State of NY
  • Proficiency in STAAD, CSI, SAP, AASHTOWare BrR and other structural analysis and design software
  • Ability to develop drawings using AutoCAD, Microstation and Open Bridge Modeler
  • Understanding design codes and agency standards such as AASHTO, ASCE, AISC and ACI.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Leadership and team building skills, which are essential to meet the expectations of this challenging position

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the structural design and analysis of bridges and other transportation structures.
  • Professional Engineering license or the ability to get on in NY

Pay Range:
• Locations in MN, VT, & Various CA, NY Areas - Min Salary $ 77,300.00 - Max Salary $ 112,100.00

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.

Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. Regular full-time and part-time employees will receive ten paid holidays in each calendar year. In addition, employees will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave (and if more generous, in accordance with state and local law).

Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
