The Enterprise Strategy Business Consulting team focuses on the most challenging and impactful growth initiatives for the C-Suite and Senior Leadership including:

  • Tailored go-to-market strategies
  • Digital acceleration
  • Autonomy & automation
  • Modern manufacturing
  • Other Enterprise Strategy Initiatives (including special assignments from the C-Suite and Board of Directors)

Our Senior Strategy Manager champions our enterprise strategy by leading internal consulting projects and teams that provide actionable, strategic recommendations that deliver long-term, profitable growth for Caterpillar. They will lead cross-functional project teams and demonstrate our five behaviors by having a customer-back mindset, communicating openly and directly, acting with urgency, thinking differently, and accelerating early wins. 

What You Will Do:

  • Oversee multiple projects or workstreams, ensuring high-quality deliverables that are actionable, high impact, and lead to successful change on time
  • Be a trusted advisor to senior leaders, managing internal business partner expectations and relationships
  • Support the Senior Director in executing the team’s vision and owning at least one internal program or process


What You Have:

  • Education/Experience: Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Business, Finance, or Engineering; 7 - 9+ years of total professional experience in functions like corporate strategy, consulting. Demonstrated excellence in problem solving as well as analytical, quantitative, and conceptual thinking
  • Stakeholder Management: Knowledge of stakeholder management techniques; ability to systematically identify stakeholders, analyze their needs and expectations, and implement various tasks to engage with them.
  • Business Acumen: Knowledge of business concepts, tools and processes that are needed for making sound decisions in the context of the company’s business; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations
  • Strategic Thinking: Knowledge of the importance of the “big picture” thinking and planning; ability to apply organizational acumen and competitiveness to identify and maintain focus on key success factors for the organization
  • Consulting: Knowledge of techniques, roles and responsibilities in providing technical or business guidance to clients, both internal and external; ability to apply consulting knowledge appropriately
  • Matrix Management: Understanding of the importance of being able to leverage external resources when required and ability to build and use effective working relationships within own department and across department, functional and geographic reporting lines
  • Executive Presence and Eminence: Knowledge of the concepts, key steps and characteristics of executive presence and eminence; ability to inspire a strong sense of poise, confidence, and decisiveness among peers, subordinates and leaders

What Will Set You Apart:

  • MBA or master’s degree from a top-tier program
  • Advanced PowerPoint and Excel skills and experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.)
  • Experience leading projects at a recognized strategy consulting firm, investment bank or corporate strategy group of a high-performing corporation
  • Professional experience in industrials, heavy equipment, automotive, or similar industries

Additional Information:

  • Location: Peoria IL, Irving TX, Tucson AZ
  • Required Travel: Domestic and International (varies by project but typical projects are between 0-20%)

 

Summary Pay Range:

$159,120.00 - $238,680.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
