Job Description

The Strategic Sourcing and Value Analysis Program Manager is responsible for driving the best triple aim value for supplies and services by leading change with their stakeholders and by actively negotiating with vendors. The best value is based on optimizing our triple aim goals of patient experience, quality outcomes, and total cost. This is accomplished by using data to lead stakeholders from senior executives/physicians to department leaders through an engaging, collaborative process. For their given subject matter area, each Strategic Sourcing/Value Analysis Program Manager will be responsible for the performance and maintenance of their contract portfolio.

Responsibilities

Drive best value for supplies and purchased services
  • Explicitly consider and optimize the triple aim goals of improved patient experience, improved quality outcomes, and reduced total cost
    • Patient experience example metrics are inpatient days avoided, pain score improvement, speed to diagnosis, etc
    • Quality outcomes example metrics are infections prevented, readmissions avoided, patient falls avoided, etc
    • Total cost includes both the "fully-landed" bedside cost to use and utilization of the supply or service over that life of the product or service
  • Pursue standardization to reduce variation and drive value
  • Monitor and maintain/improve GPO contract compliance to deliver sustainable value over time
  • Respond to market, supply, and service disruption by engaging end users and suppliers for acceptable alternate products and services

Lead change in the product/service category
  • Lead system-wide value analysis team(s) in the area of expertise
  • Engage and lead organization (senior leaders, physicians, clinicians, department leaders) through a structured product evaluation and conversion process by collaborating with the various stakeholders

Own subject matter area contract portfolio performance
  • Responsible lifecycle of contracts in the subject matter area
    • Initiation, implementation including Oracle item management, and timely renewal or termination
    • Contract monitoring to ensure value is realized
  • Conduct business reviews with key vendors to ensure both goal alignment and vendor performance

Actively negotiate with vendors
  • Understand, engage, and align internal stakeholders in preparation of vendor negotiation
  • Identify best alternative(s) to a negotiation agreement (BATNA) prior to negotiation to establish both boundaries and options
  • Use both internal and external benchmarking (where available) to drive data driven negotiations


Qualifications

5 years Strategic sourcing, procurement, value analysis, or project/program management

Bachelor's Degree OR combination of education and relevant experience (4 additional years if only HS Diploma)
